I don't really like them to be in even moderately nice restaurants. I just don't get why they would want any distraction from the food.

I guess a TV can make it Ok that they're taking too long to serve you.

TVs should be reserved for bar areas and sports bar/restaurants.

In the bar area of a restaurant or anywhere at a sports bar / restaurant, it seems fine to me.

I always find it odd that Albasha on Corporate has TVs, even though they have a small bar.

Occasionally. I went to a Mexican place on Saturday and watched some of the Wisconsin game. They only have them in the bar area but that area has booths and tables in addition to the bar.

Too damn many restaurants and bars have TVs. I dunno, I think if you sell entrees that cost more than $20, you shouldn't have a TV in your place. Especially now that everyone has a smartphone or a tablet to keep them entertained.

There's a tv behind the bar at Sushi Yama. During lunchtime once, I was sitting facing it and Anthony Bourdain's "No Reservations" was playing and he was roasting the anus of a warthog and eating it off of a stick, while diners in the restaurant were eating sushi.

I can't stand TVs. Most sushi bars now have them hovering over where you eat. I really don't want the nightly news blaring at me as I try to enjoy my food.

Case in point...I'm at Duang Tawan in Baton Rouge and on the telly is footage of WWII depicting bombings, Jews in prison camps, body carts, etc. I asked for my check and got the frick out of there.

The other evening at Sushi Masa they had MSNBC on the televisions. Definitely appetite ruining. TV's should be in the bar area and only show sports.

Come on. We grew up with TVs in the house. If something's on, we're gonna look at it. You can't help it. We're conditioned to stare at a TV

This.
I understand some small mom and pop casual places like to have a tv on in the place and I'm usually ok with that if the sound is down low.

Used to go to Central Po-boy sometimes and it's a tiny place. Owner would have news station on loud all of the time. Then he would talk politics with the old biddies in the place and get them all fired up.

I really like to relax and chill at lunch and not have to listen to people and the news talk about annoying things.

Still don't want to listen to Rachel Maddow while eating.

It depends on the place, but if the tv is so loud that I can't even have a conversation (I'm not talking about during a game) I won't stay at the place.
