1.5:1 ratio
Jasmine rice
Bring water to a boil
Stir in rice and return to boil.
Cover and cook on low 20 minutes.
Let it rest for 5.

Throw in a cinnamon stick some time along with the rice. Nice flavor without being overpowering.

Personally I use the 2:1 ratio of water to rice, bring water to boil, put rice in and stir, let cook on low for 20 min.

I do this.

I keep food items on my countertops because of limited space.. I certainly don't have room for random gadgets like rice cookers.

Fill large pot 1/2 with water
Boil water
Put rice in boiling water
Set timer 17-18 minutes uncovered
Drain water out
Eat rice

The cup that comes with the rice cooker holds about 2/3 cup. When you add water to the line, you're adding 1 cup water per rice cooker "cup" of rice. That's a 1.5-to-1 liquid-to-rice ratio.

same...sometimes it's not 20min, pot/fire/batch size fluctuations, i usually peek at 15-18.

I go with the 2:1 ratio as well. I also add a little chicken or beef base+onion powder and garlic powder. If I'm making a pilaf I add a little olive oil. I like parboiled rice the best. It doesn't stick at all. I work at Riceland and it smells really good when the parboil unit is cooking.

That's how my Parents did it. Hadn't thought about that in a while...

I use 1 cup rice to 2 cups water, dab of butter and on the stove covered on Med/High heat. When it comes to a boil, lift lid and stir, re-cover, place fire on low and put pot on top of a round heat diffuser. Done in 15 minutes.

This.

I like setting the rice cooker and then preparing everything else. Rice comes out perfect every single time.

That's what you thought. I have it and it works great. I gave plenty of space for it.

Rice cooker. I'm a fan.

We eat rice and gravy 4-5 times a week. With 2 little ones, it's hard enough to cook a gravy much less worry about the rice. Fill water to line with a dash of Salt and hit cook. Cajun country medium grain bwt. Now, when I make a jambolaya I like it moist so I actually go 2.5:1 ratio in the black pot. That's the only time rice hits the stove round here lol

Not that I really care one way or the other how people cook their rice (certainly not enough to pick a side), but what exactly is it people are thinking you "do" with rice on the stove. You literally add rice to boiling water, cover, and walk away for 20 minutes. Boiling pasta is probably more "involved" because you don't even have to check doneness of rice.

I've always done rice while I'm working on other stuff..?
