I'm brewing a fresh batch when I get back from CO. You can figure out step 6 while drinking some of it

Cool. I will save a couple Berliners and bottle a couple saisons if it turns out for you in exchange.

Info on the New Orleans homebrew competition can be found here. Cheers for Charity. Judged by attendees, not BJCP style guidelines. Frat, LSUGrad, LSURoss, y'all feel free to share with your respective clubs.

If I could get a bucket of Brett Pale Ale to you for this, could you get it in a keg for serving at the competition?

New Orleans On Tap beer Fest will also have a homebrew competition on September 27th. That's always a great beer festival.

That is a good one, but I thought homebrewers couldn't do that one anymore? Our boy Hebert shut that down.

Wait I thought good old Troy was a friend to homebrewers???

How someone without a college degree or law enforcement experience gets appointed commissioner of the ATC is beyond me.

I got the invitation to participate in NOLA On Tap, but our Oktoberfest is that day. So I think we will have to pass, especially with Brew at the Zoo 2 weekends later.

Our Oktoberfest conflicts with the laughing buddah event and New Orleans on Tap Beer Fest is the same day as an LSU home game.

Sounds like we are going to end up passing on both.

Every time we turn around there is another beer festival asking for free beer. We try to support as many as possible, but it's become a bit much.

Correct. Events in Baton Rouge I am all about but it is hard to convince enough people to give away some beer for events that they have to drive a far distance for.

And I just realized that NOLA on Tap is on the Saturday, so we could probably participate since Oktoberfest is on Sunday, but I doubt we get a lot of people involved. I am going to stay with the No as the answer.

Been working on an IPA for my next brew and can't decide which way to go with it. I have looked at the Pliny clone that is in Zymurgy, an Enjoy By clone recipe, and attempts at a Lagunitas Sucks clone.

The Pliny and Enjoy By are fairly similar grain bills, with a vast majority of 2-row and some dextrose. The Pliny clone does add a touch of Crystal 45 and carapils also.

The Sucks info shows it to have rye, wheat, and oats in addition to 2-row, and has a much higher FG at 1.025.

another option is to attempt to recreate my rye ipa as all-grain this time

and then there is the Zombie Dust clone I've always wanted to try

More than likely not. I am going to be out of town when this goes on.

BTW, what beer was that brett from? It was Crooked Stave, correct?

Things Frat learned this week:
1. If you pitch enough yeast into a lager, it will still ferment really quickly at 50 degrees. Brewed on Saturday, moved to a diacetyl rest yesterday as the wort had dropped to 1012.

2. I need friends to split brew days with me, brewing 10 gallons is too easy now and I do not have the fermentation space in the summer to accommodate all the brewing I would like to do.

3. The Cove has Anchorage Galaxy IPA on draft. Holy shite this is good on draft.

Probably my favorite beer from them. Haven't seen it bottles recently.

I used the Enjoy By grain bill scaled down to make my single hop IPAs, because I didn't want to end up with a 9.4% beer.

Just go with the Zombie Dust clone though. You know you want to.

I've been asked to make the praline porter instead. Because porters are great when it is 95+ degrees out.
