I'm stuck in a rut with restaurants here in NOLA. I'm looking for a place Saturday late afternoon/early evening to go. Wife and I really enjoy places to go where we can split many smaller plates maybe even at the bar. Happy hours are a plus. Where would you go?

Best bars in restaurants for that are La Petite Grocery, Peche, Coquette, Patois, Shaya, Domenica.

At least that is where I would start

I disagree . I think it's great people watching.

Not mentioned so far:
All of the Besh restaurants offer something good for happy hour. Borgne probably puts out the best small plates.

Bourbon house for a few oysters and beers.
Dickie Brennan's has some good drinks/small plates for $5 5-7

Is Borgne open? I recently read it was closing for about a week, I believe, to renovate and make some other changes.

I believe their facebook update said they are opening for lunch Saturday. Interested to see the renovations. I believe a major consideration was the acoustics. I like the bar, but the restaurant has a sterile feel to me.

They are trying to make some improvements to the acoustics. They are also adding a raw bar and maybe some booths or something.

It had a cafeteria look to me that I didn't care for.

Also read that Palace Cafe is closing for about 45 days, I believe, to make some changes.
