Apparently Louisiana ATC has deemed the selling of growlers and crowlers illegal in Louisiana. I know for sure it applies to all On Premise licenses. A restaurant in Baton Rouge was ticketed this afternoon for selling a growler. Please pass this message along to all bar and restaurant owners that this might impact.

Can someone enlighten me on this?

Crowley is a shite hole but making it illegal is kind of harsh.

They went through BR a few years ago and fricked this up.

Chimes and Bulldog stopped selling for a while.

If a small coffee shop in Texas can beat TABC, y'all will be fine.

Never, ever, underestimate the stupidity of the holders of political office in Louisiana. And not surprised when this happened under our former governor, who was only worried about his next job, but the turtle is a far-left liberal who shouldn't be treading on the little guy like this.

Move stupidity to the political board. It's a little premature.

So does this only pertain to places like Red Zeppelin, Chimes, CDB, and the Bulldog in BR or state wide? Can I no longer get a crowler at Parish?

A retailer told me the law on the issue was kind of vague, to the point that they did not advertise doing growler fills.

It's ridiculous that ATC would choose to cite someone unless the law was crystal clear or they announced ahead of time their interpretation.

Even then, they should interpret the law to allow the greatest freedom to retailers and customers. People can already buy and sell beer. What is the big damn menace to society if they buy it in a growler? None.

The only reason many states have such horseshite rules is that lawmakers kowtow to the big distributors and brands such as Anheuser Busch who see sales from craft beer cutting into their market.

Yep. If I can walk into Superior or the daiquiri shop and get a margarita poured into a cup to take home, why can't I get something as well sealed as a crowler?

I'm more inclined to point my finger here than at any specific political party. So, you know, thanks to all the politicians that submit to pressure from lobbyists as opposed to common sense? In other words, all of them. Shitbirds. Every single one of them.

I thought a law just passed a few weeks ago officially making growler fills legal along with allowing patrons to cork and take home bottles of wine from restaurants?

Here's the link

It was a few short years ago I couldn't purchase wine on Sundays because of the Lord. What's the deal with LA?

That is BR Metro Council, so only affects BR.

What about the rest of the state?
