Will be using at the house for regular grilling and smoking. Any recommendations as to which is better?

I love my Kamado. My neighbor loves his BGE.

That is all I can contribute.

I have a KJ and would buy another one. This topic has been discussed several times and it seems that it’s split 50/50 but most agree KJ’s have better accessory options.

I think it comes down to if you want red or green.

I’ve had both, no real difference in cooking. But as the previous poster stated, Kamari Joe has better support for accessories.

Coming from a Large BGE owner, I would spend the extra money and get a Primo XL.

Can you explain why you suggest this?

Primo XL has a bigger cooking area and it’s made in the US. KJ is made in China. BGE made in Mexico

I owned a primo XL Oval and the cooking space is greater compared to a comparably priced BGE. It does all the same things, has the same or equal accessories, made is USA, and they will or have come out with a hinge assist lifting system on newer models. The ability to create two cooking zones is nice, too. Do some research on the Primo Grills, you'll be very pleased if you go that route.

This video settled the debate for me:

YouTube

Watch the whole thing or go to the 5:21 mark and see what I'm talking about.

Hope this helps.

you get more accessories with the Joe with your initial purchase. Going on 2 years with mine and I am happy with it.

I have an Akorn Charcoal Grill/Smoker for sale on FB, if you are interested. It's only been used twice. The price is negotiable!

That's my favorite feature of the Primo. If you have small cooks, just use the firebox separator and use a smaller fire. Although they're all pretty efficient, it does help save on charcoal.

KJ is fantastic, and you get most of the accessories for the same price as the BGE. My favorite part of it though is the gasket and latch system. Both perform well, but you get much more with the Joe now.

I own a BGE but if I were spending my money today it’d be on a Kamado Joe.

The oval shape holds more food than a BGE with the same surface area and the split firebox makes indirect cooking easier.
