What's the scoop on this place, and how is the food during lunch time? Also, how does it compare to other Chinese buffets around Baton Rouge?

I had a guy I use to be friends with tell me he went into the kitchen as a purveyor a few years back, when they turned on the lights in the morning 100s of roaches scattered everywhere.

I've never been back there since hearing that story.

From what I can remember though, the chicken on a stick is really good!

if you are eating at a buffet do you really care how the food is? Its all you can eat for less than 10 bucks, how do you think the food is?

They used to have Great Walls old cook but not anymore. It's ok but not as good as Great Wall.

After hearing this, I won't be going there. I've heard it's good and cheap, but I cannot stomach the thought of roaches crawling in the kitchen.

Doubt if the roach report is even true, urban myth type thing. As a side note, if you have seen the kitchens of many fine restaurants as I have in the past, you would probably never eat out anywhere.

It is still the best buffet in town but isn't as good as it used to be. Lunch is the best time to go to get a good variety and have it fresh. It's cheaper I think then too.

There are roaches in every restaurant you will ever eat at.

Guy worked for a purveyor company while in college, was in an out of tons of restaurants around town, never was a guy that lied about anything, and had nothing to gain from saying this.

Believe what u want though.

That's like saying someone is the best looking rapist out of a group.

The only food that sits well on a buffet is Indian, therefore Bay Leaf is the best buffet.
Buffets are gross because most food isn't made to sit like that.

This is pretty accurate and I've been in a lot of restaurant kitchens of all spectrums.

Yeah. If they didn't buy from him, stiffed him on payment, were rude to him, cancelled a contract, etc, etc, etc.

There are ALWAYS reasons people start stupid rumors like this.
