Wife's mom is coming in (from a different country) and wants to see the French Quarter.
What's some good Cajun restaurants close to the French Quarter?....looking for nice, but not crazy expensive nice like a Commanders Palace nice.

Thanks!

If its Cajun, only places that come to mind are K-Paul and Cochon.

Kidding...pics would help though. 2nd the Couchon vote although it's not really walking distance to the FQ.

It's called the "French" Quarter not the "Cajun" Quarter.

Meauxbar and Sylvain should be on your list for that area.

The specialty in New Orleans is Creole, not Cajun food. I agree with the Mr. B's recommendation. We recently took two sets of out of town visitors to the Pelican Club and the loved it.

Coop's was packed and had people standing outside in the rain to get in.

I got the sampler: fried drum stick, jambalaya, gumbo, shrimp creole, and red beans and rice.

It was a dive restaurant...it was okay.

Commanders is not expensive at all ... It is probably the best value in city.

IN the FQ, K-Paul's. Downtown a short way is Bon Ton only on weeknights.

I guess, except for the fact that Cochon and K-Paul's are probably the two best actual restaurants in the world serving what would be described as "Cajun" food. And you'd probably be hard pressed to find one better than Bon Ton elsewhere, to boot.
