I guess, except for the fact that Cochon and K-Paul's are probably the two best actual restaurants in the world serving what would be described as "Cajun" food. And you'd probably be hard pressed to find one better than Bon Ton elsewhere, to boot.
Yeh agree to disagree

K-Pauls is a wonderful establishment with phenomenal food. But at this point my french speaking grandmother would murder them:

My dear departed one likely would too, but she never had her own restaurant. Thus, my caveat.

Where's your grandma's place located and what are her hours? I'd love to check it out.

You make a good point. To that I would say actual Cajun food does not lend itself for restaurants IMHO. But often when people say they want cajun food they are more referring to fine French Creole cuisine, which NOLA is remarkable at

I realize my initial post came across as smart-assey, but it was more agreeing with you, yet pointing out that the best RESTAURANT examples of the cuisine are nevertheless probably in New Orleans.

I find your typical out of towner from Kalamazoo coming to New Orleans for "Cajun" food will be floored by any number of places (Galatoires, Commanders, Mr. B's, Cochon, etc.) and none the wiser that nothing they are eating is really cajun.

Don't let the lines at Acme and Felix's fool you. they are just not good.

Add Toups to that list. It is a really good place.

No real Cajun food in the city at all. It's that simple.

Probably, but there are some places that do South Louisiana cuisine really well. Combining all the flavors available.
