Heck, I don't know about that, but I know I want to "be in that number"

But yeah, I am ready and willing to do whatever I can to make it happen as I think a lot of us on this food board are.

You can do it one post at a time.

I think it's all a work in progress, as these crews are working in different conditions that are testing their skills, and there's simply no manual for it at all. However, the food concepts and ideals behind what they are trying to pull off, and in a truck, is phenomenal. It's still in it's infancy right now, but eventually the lines will get shorter and things will go more smoothly as they get this together. What nobody wants to see happen is for this to become fast food garbage, pre-prepared crap with no inspiration, just fast, and that serves no purpose whatsoever. Doing hand made fries from scratch, and burger that are ground from quality beef is something that is anything but fast Americana crap food intended to get in people's bellys as fast as possible to make the pain go away. It's an epicurian experience, and at a low overhead and affordable price. As these folks refine their skills and improve on consistency, I seriously believe that what you are going to find is a movement around Baton Rouge to kick the level of food up in this area by a large margin. You will never be able to convince the chain addicts, and people of my dad's age of the value found in these trucks, because that's not what they value. However, you will draw those who put a high emphasis on food quality and new experiences, and draw new converts at every passing day. Most of these people are of the younger generation who are the future, which is why I say that what we are witnessing right now is the beginning of a food revolution that will take place over time, and I think we will all see it transform BR over the next couple of decades.

You just hit the nail on the head. Look forward to a Food Truck Association, not something BS, but something the owners are taking pride in.

Things required:

1. Packaging - go green, 100% biodegradable
2. Paying good rent money to set up shop where people WANT the trucks, and not where they'll end up pissing off brick and morter restaurants.
3. INCREDIBLE food. The goal is to step up the food quality 1000%, yes 1000%. A food truck can't offer you air conditioning, or a TV to watch the game, a cold beer, a chair and table, or a server to bring your food to the table. But can offer you the very best quality food, that you will CRAVE and talk to your friends about. The quality food that gives foodies a Flavorgasm in every bite.

Mark my words, the food scene in BR is changing, and it's about to get wild, and it's never gonna be the same. Take that to the bank.

So is anyone gonna give us a write up on the trucks that were there? Preferably an honest opinion and not a biased one.

Curbside?
Taco de Paco?
Crepes truck?
All Star Catering?
BBQ truck?

This is the cool crowd of BR IMO, people who know what's up and are into it.

i must not be cool. I stood in one line which never moved. I must have been there at a peak time. Once I had been standing in one spot for 30 minutes, with no promise of moving forward... i left my hip friends to go eat at chelsea's at 8:05.

at 8:50 when i had eaten and gotten my food, had a few drinks, and paid... i texted my friends to see how the burgers at curbside were. They had no clue because they had put their order in but not gotten the burger yet.

they said it was a great burger, but idk what burger is worth an hour wait in a tight spot with tons of people & smell of too many generators emitting gas fumes in close proximity to each other.

to top it off, went to get dessert & that truck closed shop at 9, half way into the venue.

im sure ill try the food one day. but, ill do it when its more convenient to me since im lame and uncool. to me, part of the beauty of food trucks, thats its fast and convenient. last night was neither of those things.

Disagree. Feed the meter brosef, thats all the rent I want them to pay. The brick and mortars can learn to deal with it.

Curbside?

I had the Brian burger...the burger with the cooked down pork belly on it. It was really good. You need to keep in mind the patty is thin, so it can be cooked fast...it's not a hulking burger or anything. I wasn't blown away because my expectations were a little skewed, but that was my fault. For a $5 combo which included fresh cut fries...it was so much better than any other burger you're going to get, and the value was awesome. Homemade pickles (mmmmm), bun was great, fries weren't greasy, and I ate them all...not usually a fry guy. Also got a side of praline bacon that would've gone on their KGB burger. I could make a meal out of that stuff, loved it. Curbside is definitely going to be one of the more popular trucks.

All Star Catering?

Had some of the best fried fish I've ever had. I'm not usually a fried fish fan, usually think it's cut too thin, and all you taste is batter. This was so good. Nice thick pieces of fish with a crispy fried batter. Full of seasoning. They served it in fish tacos with slaw and a crawfish etouffee sauce that was right on time. All Star was total surprise because I hadn't heard of it yet, and I hope to eat it again soon. If their food is as good as last night, must be some damn good catering.

Taco de Paco?

Went to them at the end of the night, got the alligator taco, the pulled pork taco, a steak taco. Got them to go, and took them home to the wife, so we could split them. After already overeating and drinking, I don't remember the specifics of each, but they were really good, I know Mrs. Fury especially dug them. I do remember the pulled pork taco being my favorite.

Crepes truck?

Unfortunately they ran out of food before I could get there, but the lines indicated they were pretty damn popular. Heard plenty of great things about their turkey/brie and cuban crepes. Disappointed I'll have to wait to try them.

BBQ truck?

It was called Kicker's. Also didn't get to try this one, but the portions I saw were huge, and smelled awesome. Probably better than most other BBQ places in town.

I loved the idea of the food trucks all getting together. Last night was a lot of fun just to get out on a Wednesday night, and enjoy some great food and weather. The people serving the food were especially nice, and it felt good to support something local. Would totally recommend any of the places I ate at, and hope they are near an area where I can get to them again.

If the restaurants don't want the competition...put out a better product at a better price.

There were a ton of people out there. It reminded me of a small St. Patti's.

I was thinking the same thing last night. When they organized it, I don't think they were ready for such a big crowd. It wasn't organized all that well, but I still enjoyed myself.

Well I don't think there was any expectation for the turnout. I mean, when they have those moving feasts for the restaurants and stuff around there, they don't even get that type of turnout (or if they do it's a lot more dispersed so you don't notice it). But I thought it was awesome.
