Because its a very mediocre brewery that makes very average to below average beer.

What makes it a mediocre brewery and a average/below average beer?

I drink Abita, NOLA, Parish.. they all are good beers to me. I'd like to learn more as to why Abita is looked down upon?

Because they are content to pump out the same beers when we all know they have the ability to do more. Like the select beers, most of those are good beers but they won't ever repeat them or make them a full-year or even seasonal brew. They are a boring brewery, but they make a killing, so they've earned that right.

So many peole with shitty tastes huh?

I see what you're saying. So it's not a quality issue. It's more along the lines of they aren't as ambitious as they could be.

This is retarded line of reasoning ... you know this don't you? Please say say yes.

Most people in business that are "making a killing" are doing something right... Idk that's just how I see it..
Some of you people wouldn't be fricking satisfied if they won every beer award known to man and made a diff one every other week od the year.

I'm pretty burned out on Abita.. it was the first brewery I was ever turned onto and can barely stand to drink the flagship brews anymore.

Seasonals and specialties are where its at. I'd probably go with Fall Fest or the Red Ale as my favorites

Ha ha, he mad.

I do enjoy good louisiana beer, just none of them are made by abita.

Bud makes a killing, guess you consider that good beer too.

Both, really. Their basic beers aren't anything special, but yeah they know how to brew a better beer. The guys at Budweiser could brew a better beer too but the $$$ dictates that they don't need to.

Bud, Miller, and Coors are making way more of a killing than Abita... and yeah they're all doing something right. Appealing to the masses, yay!

This is what it's really about, huh?

Surely you can't expect every brewery to cater to the craft brew drinkers forever?

What will you guys drink when Parish and NOLA (already on their way, imo) go the way of Abita? Sure, they are cute and small and growing slowly now (we will call it the "puppy stage") Will you be like the people who will stop listening to their favorite band because they finally get airtime on the radio and go mainstream?

I guess there will always be a select few breweries who don't care about making bank but instead "do it for the love of the game".

Let's be honest, you mad... I ain't mad.

I love Abita, as do most other beer drinkers... If you don't , that's great more for me.
Yes I also love a nice cold budeweiser longneck.

I really don't think you suck as bad irl as you have made out in the last coule posts.. Being optimistic.

There are plenty of craft breweries that manage to get pretty big without losing their appeal to the beer nerds. And I still drink the Abita selects... probably going to have one at The Cove later tonight actually. I just don't care much for their year-round stuff. I find it boring and think that there are better options nationally and locally.

How is nola on their way? They have 2 beers (blonde and brown) they make that appeal to the mass. Everything after that is made for beer drinkers, their latest release was a huge dipa.

Several small craft breweries, that are now large, still make a great product. Green Flash, Dogfish Head, Descheuttes, Sierra Nevada,Bells

Really not a fan of Restoratuon or Jockamo. Amber/Purple Haze are my go tos, but I also really enjoy Turbodog, Strawberry, and Andygator.

And why is it looked down upon? Abita is awesome
