Have you thought about using some biscuit malt to get the toasted flavor/aroma and maybe some brown sugar or honey for rest of the flavor? I know too much honey will give you a really dry finish though....just a thought.

This. It's frustrating because you know they are capable, having made some good beer through their select series. That being said they were a "gateway" brewery for me as others have pointed out and helped steer me away from the BMC products in my younger days.
