I actually think that area is picking up and will continue to do so. If you think about it, it's a pretty good location geographically. Easy access from Uptown and Lower Garden District, Warehouse District and the CBD. Plus there are couple of restaurants opened just off of St. Charles in that area. I know there's that Columbian one . . . (can't think of name).

No need. The intimidating security from Big Top/Three Ring Circus just down the block has it covered. Hipsters don't take no mess, son.

It looks like Restraunteurs are trying to turn the Oretha Castle Haley area into the next Freret Street, with Mais Arepas already doing well, Casa Borrega just opening up and getting some good press, and the Cowbell guy opening a takeout place not far from there.

I just don't see it. Central City is a nightmare neighborhood. But I guess I didn't see it with Freret either.

That old tire store is going to be a big restaurant supply company too.

This makes no sense. Was there not a single restaurant available in BR?

I am sure it is good pizza, but pizza places and burger places are all over New Orleans.

I agree. I'm pulling for him, I just hope he's not acting on the romantic notion of having a restaurant in New Orleans.

Not only that, but the guy built up a really solid reputation in Baton Rouge. He essentially has to start at the bottom of the heap in New Orleans. That's the part of the decision I don't understand. But hey, I'm sure he considered all factors. Maybe the lease was too good to pass up?

He was getting really well known here in BR. I think he could have made a fortune here.

If I'm heading to New Orleans, I'm not going there to eat a slice of pizza.

Rumhouse took the last spot.

And the NOLA high-end pizza market is getting very saturated, with Ancora, Domenica (and them opening a pizza only location) etc.

Yeah, Amici opened TUESDAY!
It's under 1 mile away.

I wish the guy luck. Did someone say he's a NOLA local?

Blame the dipshit drunk driver that almost ruined his livelihood.

He got his truck totaled when pulling the trailer by a drunk driver and then a little bit after he got back up and going again he got his trailer smashed. Not sure if the second incident involved a drunk driver.

Still a few around. Dolce Vita and Curbside were the best two, though. Pulling pork is really good, IMO.

I'm sure this had something to do with it. It's freaking St. Charles Ave. If he has booze he will probaly be able to survive just off video poker and Mardi Gras.

Seems like the fad is dying there.
