BTW are food trucks slowly dying in BR? I havent seen one in months. Have not heard of any new ones either.

Still a few around. Dolce Vita and Curbside were the best two, though. Pulling pork is really good, IMO.

I thought Curbside was sticking around in BR ? I guess he couldn't handle both locations.

From what I gather the truck has been doing a lot of catering gigs in BR but I haven't seen much of it in service. They did a grand opening for Perlis near my house here a little while back.

I imagine it would be quite difficult to adequately tend to his physical location in New Orleans and have the truck operate at a high level in BR.

Well, I wish him luck, yet I wish he would stay in BR.

As long as Mama Della's does not close, we are still good.
I worry every time I drive up that it's going to be closed. He doesn't exactly do gangbusters, unless it's on the weekdays.

Still some around, the newer ones just do a poor job of getting the word out that they exist. Food trucks that don't embrace social media and use it properly just end up being an old school "roach coach"

"I looked at 10 [Baton Rouge] locations," he says. "I was in the midst of negotiations. I made all the calls. But let me tell you, my rent is cheaper on St. Charles Avenue than on the end of Dalrymple Drive. It was taking me months to negotiate in Baton Rouge."

Nice pull. Is there a BR real estate mafia that we all don't know about?

That's really sad and shitty at the same time.

Hold out for the big chain restaurant who may want to open up! Stay classy, BR!

More likely, there are large national chains that are in locales and have clauses in lease which prevents landlord from leasing to similar biz. Its a standard provision a huge national tenant would put in.

Still it sucks.

This is true. As evidenced by:
quote:

When Mocanu had settled on some choices for a Baton Rouge location, he found that corporate restaurants didn't want him next door, he says.

It isn't like he just didn't take some spots because he didn't want to offend anyone who didn't want him there.

Sucks bad. Real bad.

Hey, when do you plan on going? I may have a "yard pass" from my wife tomorrow evening and I'm thinking about checking it out.

I know, right?

Actually, just an old saying. It's not that bad, trust me.

Pre-nup.

God, if only I'd done it the first time around . . . btw, are you at least keeping the pool clean?

Seems like the fad is dying there.

I think with the best ones gone (Dolce Vita, Curbside, Ignatius Reilly), it's just hard to muster the interest to even look for them anymore. The only times I see them are downtown during lunch. The Delpit's truck sometimes sits in Bogdan's old spot. Best pizza I ever had.
