I eat some kind of fast food maybe 1 or 2 times a week. But I'm 22 and my body feels relatively the same after anything I eat. Maybe once I age a little ill stop.

I don't really recall having any interaction with you in the past but you continue to attempt to call me out . You sure you don't have a thing for me or something?

Well, dayum, go do some work and read the Rant and come back to this.

I made a statement of fact. I meant to put the after it, but forgot. Sure did get your panties in a wad over it.

quote:

You must have never read any of her posts in chain restaurant threads.

I happen to recall a few posts I made on chains. They're below with links. I probably have more with my personal opinion of what I like and don't like, but I doubt there are a bunch, if any, where I've called someone out because they ate at a chain. I don't call people fatties because of where they eat or what they like, either, like so many people on TD do. I've never understood the thrill of doing that. I'm sorry I haven't eaten at your beloved Olive Garden more than one time, but the opportunity to eat there again has never presented itself. I have no issue with your worship of the place. Heck, it supported you and your wife. She may still work there for all I know.

LINK /

quote:

Chains have their place. Not every city is a food mecca of locally owned reasonably priced restaurants putting out quality food. Not everyone cooks instead of going to a chain. Not everyone is into food as much as the folks on this board are. (That's why these threads never go well. People on this board are here to talk about food and, for the most part, not chains or fast food, though there are plenty here who get excited when Cane's isn't open.) It's not their hobby nor is it at the top of their list of important things in life. I don't have sympathy for them because that's a choice. I have sympathy for hard working folks with families or people whose situation doesn't allow for them to eat where they might prefer. I don't look down on folks if they eat at chains or get excited over a meal at one of them. If they enjoy that, it's fine. I don't, but that's my choice. I've only been to an Olive Garden once. It wasn't bad food. It's pasta for crying out loud. I simply prefer other places. I have to eat at an Outback, periodically, because people I know and love happen to like the place. The salads are good and the pork tenderloin with steamed fresh veggies is fine. Nothing wrong with the food. I've had much better and could get something I like more for the money, but what the heck. I love a good greasy breakfast at Waffle House with extra crispy hash browns and ketchup. Sometimes, there's nothing better at the time. Haven't been in years, but I wouldn't think twice about going if the opportunity or urge presented itself.

Here's another few I remembered in a thread where someone posted about a "3 location rule" in selecting a restaurant. LINK /

GG:
quote:

I think it's a silly rule, especially if it's a hard and fast one. Find out what's good and what's bad and either eat there or not.

quote:

quote: (from someone else) not a silly rule but it is a decent guideline- most chain rests. have ongoing quality issues,

GG Response:
quote:

I don't dispute that chains may have quality issues, but I think it's silly to use a "3 location" rule. I rarely eat at mid level chains, anyway, unless I'm out of town without other options,in which case getting a burger, club sandwich or salad isn't all that much of a risk and likely to be much better than McDonald's where I would not likely go for any reason. I also like the occasional chicken at Popeye's, so I'd break the rule by eating there, as well. I've had to eat at Outback twice in the past year by someone else's choice, which is more times than I've eaten there in the past 5 years. The blue cheese chopped salad was very good as was the pork tenderloin. Granted, maybe those items won't be good at another location, but I'm surely not going to invoke a RULE. Had I invoked it, I would have missed dinner with my young nieces who happen to like the place and if they pick Applebee's, I'll suck it up and eat there, too. I've eaten at many Ruth's Chris restaurants in the US and Canada and not once have I noticed a problem with quality. I think BR has 3 Serop's restaurants. I like Serop's, so again, the rule would be broken. I'll stop here. It's a silly rule.

You've changed my mind about McDonald's because now I'm craving one of those breakfast things made from the waffle or pancake or whatever with the sausage patty. I haven't had one in probably 15 years, but now I want one.

Funny thing is I'm having a corn dog and tator tots from Sonic tonight for supper. I wanted one last night, but didn't feel like going out to get it, so I pulled gumbo from the freezer. I like my corn dog extra crispy.

I'm judgmental about gumbo. Just ask Bayou Blitz or Otis. I enjoy giving those boys some grief from time to time. All in good fun.

Have a nice day.

You seem amazed that an adult eats at McDonalds. I've been in my car a ton the past few years and don't mind stopping at the drive thru for one of their wraps when I'm on a long car drive. Its one of the better fast food places.

Gris I must of been thinking of someone else. I could of swore I remember threads where you were degrading people that eat at chain restaurants. I was wrong and I apologize.

I do know your stance on gumbo and you can be a tad bit harsh and judgemental.

I eat it a few times a year when travelling or busy lunches.

I like the ole American fries, but I don't enjoy much else, so it's usually out of necessity and lack of options.

Not at all. I referred to someone that eats it for lunch pretty much everyday. He is the only person I know who eats at Mcdonalds on a regular basis other than people that bring or pick up stuff for their children. I know plenty of people who eat other fast food several times of week but Mcdonalds isn't nearly as popular as it used to be especially with people I know. This is why I asked if anyone knows anyone who eats there on a regular basis.

I don't even like Olive Garden. My wife was a gm for them and I have only ate their a few times and it was free.

People here constantly say everything there is frozen/microwaved and I told them it was not. They argued with me knowing my wife had been a gm their.

Yes, I know. I bet if you search Olive Garden on this site, you're in a lot of threads.

Yep I am sure I would be. I am sure most of my posts would come after people saying it was all frozen and microwaved too.

I consider myself a pretty fit guy.

Their Southwest Chicken Salad with grilled chicken is pretty tasty and I eat it a couple of times a week on average. They have an Asian Chicken Salad that isn't too bad either.

With that said, I would never touch pretty much anything else on their menu.

I ate the grilled chicken wraps they had for a while last year. I cant remember what they were called but they had a decent nutritional profile. They were only two bucks for a while if I remember correctly and once they went up in price I stopped getting them.

I work with a woman that eats fast food EVERYDAY and McDonald's is on her list of priorities. Not only fast food but Quarter Pounders and fries. She doesn't even attempt to mix in something semi healthy, baffles me.

McDonalds still caries them. I have eaten them a few times as well. They're like 300 calories.

I don't eat McDonald's regularly, but I'd take the simple hamburger they serve there (like the kids meal regular type of burger) any day over the extremely sloppy burgers at other fast food places.

On the occasion that I go, I get the meal with 2 of those little burgers (no cheese) and fries. Or I get the chicken wrap.
