Portillos for an Italian Beef, on my way there right now.
Also it is a little pricey but I seriously recommend the Signature Lounge at the Hancock Building. The lounge is 96 floors up with a beautiful view of the city

exactly don t let anyone tell you that there's a better italian beef in town.

signature lounge is really overpriced and the food not that good, but the view is unparalleled

Also it sounds crazy but hear me out, go to Chicago Diner in Lakeview. It's a vegetarian restaurant (and I usually hate all things vegetarian) but this is becoming one of new favorite places in the city. It's vegetarian comfort food, I go at least once a week

Yeah I would not recommend it for the food, and the drinks are over priced but worth it to visit once

I hate Chicago recommendation threads because runningTiger ruins them.

I second Alinea. Most amazing meal I've ever eaten. Follow them on Facebook and Twitter to score same day tables. Also, Piccolo Sogno for Italian.

Ahhh, so you have no clue what you are talking about

Maybe keep your dumb opinions to yourself in the future and you wont look like such a fool.

So much good eastern European food in Chicago! (and ZERO in New Orleans)

I've enjoyed:

Restaurant Sarajevo (Bosnian/Croatian)

Mabenka (Lithuanian)

Staropolska (Polish)

Smak-Tak was good Polish too- but I liked Staropolska better.

We went to an awesome Hungarian place years ago- can't seem to remember the name.

Its not dinning, but I recommend spending a night at Kingston Mines. Sweet blues club that has duel stages so there is always someone playing.

Yeah, I'd give Pappadeaux the title of horrible cajun restaurant up here.

The owner of Heaven on Seven also runs The Purple Pig (w/ his son), and a pancake house called Juicy-O. All are legit places to eat for a decent price.

He's worked with Emeril & Prudhomme, and donated a lot of his time & money on Katrina relief. He's a really decent guy and his son is the 4th generation in their family of restaurant owners, which tells me they're doing SOMETHING right...

I'll be supporting his restaurants as long as I live up here.

Trolls are trolls. I mean, he's saying a borderline fast food joint has the best Italian Beef, for crying out loud.
