I went through some old threads on this subject and most of them have the same restaurants like Fig, S.N.O.B, the Ordinary, Husk etc... In the last year or so, are there any new restaurants there that folks would recommend?

Asking for a friend.

Your friend should also consider McCrady's. Same owner/chef as Husk in a great atmosphere.

Spero was fantastic. The owners are two guys from Pearlz and it was great food with a unique experience. The guys will cook your food and serve you.

It's a dive, but food is really good. Go into it with an open mind.

I've had a couple of great meals at Cru Cafe, really good food and reasonably priced. You do need a reservation though it is not very big.

We also try to hit Pearlz for Happy Hour. The Gin joint is a cool place for cocktails.

Xiao Bao Biscuit on Rutledge and Spring. One of the best meals I'd had in a while. Awesome modern Asian fusion.

We've been to all of those places mentioned in your post, plus a few mentioned by others(Cru Cafe and High Cotton). All were great. Poogan's Porch isn't bad, but it's been around for awhile. 82 Queen was recommended, but we've never been. If they're looking for a good lunch spot, I'd recommend the Brown Dog Deli, or if in the mood for some soul food, there's always Martha Lou's.

I recommended FIG and SNOB in one of the previous threads. Both are highly recommended. The Peninsula Grill is also very good. Those are my 3 favorites.

There is a steakhouse by the market place which is like their french market called Tbonz. Went there a couple of years ago during the SC floods. $22 for a 20oz prime rib! Can't beat that. Everyone else with us enjoyed their steaks as well.

I'm heading down tomorrow, have McGrady's Tavern and Magnolia's booked so far. Everyone I've talked to has said Magnolia's is awesome.

Gonna possibly try and hit Callie's Hot Little Biscuit one morning for a quick breakfast, supposed to be really good.

Gonna also try and grab some BBQ at the farmer's market. I've heard you can get some awesome stuff.

Other recommendations:

Husk
Poogan’s Porch
Low Country Bistro
Scarecrow
High Cotton
Paw Paw - good, but Scarecrow and Husk are better.

Scarecrow is my favorite new place in Charleston. I have friends that work in most of the restaurants listed in this thread.

Most of them are in agreement with me.

I've heard that poogan's porch is kind of a tourist trap. Anyone have thoughts on Lowcountry Bistro?

Scarecrow is probably on a short list of places for Sunday.

Also, farmer's market...I've heard you can get some awesome BBQ there. Any experiences with it?
