Just no. Firehouse is about 1000X better. Everything at subway is "turkey" based and tastes bland.

I work in Texas and it is loaded with great chain restaurants. Here's a few:

Rudy's BBQ
Corner Bakery Cafe (Founded in Chicago)
Torchy's Tacos
Taco Palenque (along the border, phenomenal fajitas for a fast/casual place)
Mighty Fine Burger (Austin only)

Others I enjoy anywhere:

Zea
PF Changs
Ruth's
Flemmings
Redstone Grill
Portillo's Foodservice (Chicago)
In and Out

I dig this place.

But is it a chain? I know there's about 10 locations but I thought they were all owned by Rypka?

I don't think we could get along.

Example:
I hate Blimpie and Jimmy Johns.

I love Waffle House

On the other hand, I am with you on Popeye's, Hooters and Houston's.

I had Jim 'N Nick's BBQ a few weeks ago and thought it was amazing.

May have been a fluke. IDK.

I take it you don't like the traditional sub dressing of oil & vinegar?

Subway is good for what it's for - a quick convenient sandwich that is low in calories and tastes good. Of course Firehouse probably tastes better, but the sandwiches are loaded in calories.

There is one right by my grandmothers and that place is really good. I was actually surprised, because there hasn't been a good BBQ place in the area since famous Dave's left.

I like Subway's bread selection and prices better. I think JJ is way overpriced and the sandwiches are small.

Firehouse is more expensive, but much better than all three of the above.

They're "low calories" when you put nothing on them... It does not taste good (except the meatball) Lenny's/jersey mikes (and if y'all have publix) have better fresher subs for the same price range.

They're in Austin, Houston and Dallas. There's 12 locations I think and a second one is being built/set to open soon in Houston. And it won't be all that far way from the current one as it's supposed to be in the Heights area. Perhaps this one will have a parking situation that doesn't suck arse.

I'm guilty. $.59 tacos is perfect hangover football watching food.

Club loaded with veggies and honey mustard is good
Teriyaki chicken is decent
Chicken and bacon with veggies and just a little chipotle dressing is 440 cals. Not bad

To each his own though.

tastes good? no.

low in calories? not the sandwiches I used to see people ordering there.

and like has been said.. their meat is all turkey-based. that means .. yep, that ham you're ordering is not ham at all. fricking disgusting. not to mention how much sodium is in their "meat."

I'd rather just drink a gallon of water to fill my stomach.
