Ive always eaten it by itself, or with other fruit chilled, snack by the pool, on the boat, etc.
I know some that serve it room temperature as a side with dinner...thought was odd, but whatever...

I almost always eat it cold but room temp is better mostly due to fragrance.

The correct answer for all fruit is room temp.
Or better yet, warmed by the sunshine in the field temp.
Cold just masks flavor.

I'll eat it either way, but usually it starts off at room temp with leftovers in the fridge. I haven't had a really good sweet one in a long time. Even the locally grown haven't been all that sweet. The sweet ones are so darn good.

I guess it depends on the fruit and occasion. If I'm in need of hydration, nothing beats really cold bits of fruit. Apples need to be chilled for me to remotely enjoy them, but that's less the taste and more the refreshment.
I agree about the flavor. This is one of the reasons that top Japanese restaurants hold that dinner's fish at room temp. Fish fat actually melts lower than our body temperature. In other words, it will literally melt in your mouth when you eat it if the piece of fish isn't ice cold. That, and as previously stated, the flavors are more intense.
I can't say that I hate cantaloupe, but it's one of my least favorite fruit.

I like it fresh sliced at room temp but if it's not all eaten in one sitting, it has to be refrigerated. Cold cantaloupe out of the fridge is great on a hot summer day. It's very hydrating for the body.

I hate cantaloupe. Which sucks because I pride myself on liking most all foods. But to me it taste like feet. Carry on

Do you eat feet, Mr. Balls?

Just like watermelon, tastes better not chilled. But there is something about cold melon on a hot day that makes it more refreshing.

I chuckle when people say something tastes like shite for this same reason.
Speaking of Balls, people ask me if I know what the smell of moth balls are like. I reply that I don't know how to get my nose in between those tiny legs.

Tastes better room temp. Much more refreshing cold.

I find it hard to take seriously the opinion of someone who engages in this type of hyperbole.
