I'm a Bayou hot wings fan....does Bourre compare favorably?

Bayou would be the best if they didn't bread the wings. That drives me nuts.

I don't like Bayou for the same reason. I'd say they're better than BWW, which I realize isn't saying much, but not nearly as good as Blue Oak.

Guess I'm in the breaded minority. Too often the unbreaded are either rubbery from undercooking or over cooked as hell and dry.

I really love Bayou's spicy Korean wings. Best I have ever had.

I don't think so. People who love Bayou really love it. There's something about the aftertaste of the breading and the texture that throws me off. I really love smoked wings though.

Bourre doesn't bread theirs. I'm not sure if they're so small because they're cheap or because they're using expensive chicken that isn't jacked up on hormones. But they're embarrassingly small.

They are using a non-commodity chicken. I think he Nathaniel told me it was Springer Mountain chicken. So really its the natural size of a chicken wing.

That would definitely explain the size.

I may give it a little while to see if they make changes, then possibly check it out.

By now, Blue Oak has to be bringing people there who'd never go otherwise, so you'd think he'd be appreciative of the random profit (beers at the bar, cover charge, etc).

This. Only reason I've visited CWW is to get Blue Oak and usually end up buying a beer or two while I wait.

Dammit. Definitely get the the thing with CWW owner being a prick.

Went to pick up some Roosters for dinner and posted up at the bar to get a cold beer and send some work emails while I waited. Asked bartender for the WiFi password because CWW is a 4G dungeon and he said the owner said it's off limits now to customers and even staff. Wouldn't even tell bartenders.

That will get you people 21-50 in the bar! Hope Blue Oak gets their own spot sooner than later.

Went to Bourre the other day. Thought the wings were pretty good but really enjoyed the daiquiri.

I finally made my maiden voyage to Bourree yesterday against the advice of the FDB, but couldn't resist because I am a wing connoisseur. Also, because everything Boucherie and Que Crawl cooks is always so damn good.

I can pretty much confirm what's already been said, with a few updates. I ordered the Barbara's Downfall daiquiri, the spicy buffalo wings and the kimchi wings.

The daiquiri texture was great due to the bartender using a Vitamix, but that's where the excitement ends. The drink was bland and for what equates to a medium daiq at all drive-thru spots, not that I drink them on the reg, $10 was fairly pricy to walk away with zero buzz.

As for the wings, they were good size for being quality chicken. I could tell the quality since I usually walk away from an order of wings feeling like garbage (usually worth it), but not the case here with Springer Mtn poultry. You do pay for it at $7-8 for 6 wings.

The "spicy" buffalo wings were smoked well, but I would have liked them spicier and fried a bit crispier. There is an option on the menu to up the heat, which would probably have been the way to go. Also could have used a piece of celery or two to dip the rest of the ranch/bleu combo they give you.

The kimchi wings tasted great and were a nice twist (besides being less crispy than I like). This was the best item of the meal and will probably be what has people going back.

All in all it was OK. A previous poster said if you are going to have 2 items on the menu, do them very well. I have to agree they need to step it up.

I walked out of there down $27.50 plus tip with zero buzz and not full, but not hungry either. The only way I would go back is if someone lobbies me hard to go back with them and I am already in the area...even then I may defer and just walk around the corner to Boucherie.

Yeah the value for the price is horrendous. I mean the wings are fine but not the best I've had in town. The daiq was again, ok.

I'll go back when they open up in the bigger spot and get a wider menu. But that's the only other chance they get.

I found that daiquiri to not be as good as the strawberry one flavor wise.

How much is a medium daiquiri at a drive thru place ? Although they really aren't the same thing IMO.

You're correct. As these are 'craft' I'm sure they're using an Old New Orleans Rum or Rougaroux, etc.

$5.50 for a medium at Gene's, but yes, that's probably just grain alcohol.

Bayou Hot Wings is better than Bourre but I love the flavor of the Kimchi wings there.
