My daughter just texted me and asked where to get really good boudin and cracklins on the way back from Houston. Not far off the interstate would be great.
Any suggestions?

Billy's Boudin & Cracklins in Scott, LA.

Less than a minute off the interstate.

ETA: Also can she bring me back some cracklins?

Text her back and tell her to make sure she tries the pepper jack boudin wraps at Billy's.

Many, many minutes waiting in line

worth it though

I've been skipping the line and going to Best Stop, but they can get pretty crowded too

I always go to Best Stop. I like the boudin, it's a little spicy.

I've only gone on Sunday evenings on my way back from Houston and once in the morning on a drive back.

The time I went in the morning there was no line. The Sunday afternoon trips were ridiculous.

The smoked boudin at the best stop is good. Good Cracklin as well. Just on the north side of 10 at the Scott exit

They're also available frozen, for serving at home.

I tried em.. Let em thaw first and heat em at 300 for 30-35 minutes. So good.

I don't even let mine thaw. 350 for 25-30 minutes and they come out great.

I agree that billys is top of the pile.

I will throw you another option though.

Rabideauxs. It is about a mile south of i10 on 165. Definitely in my top 3. And they sell frozen packs too.

I'll be in the Iowa area on Saturday around lunch time. Looking forward to stopping in and seeing what they got. I love joints like this. Thx

I agree. its hard to beat the convenience of Billy's in Scott. Rabideoux's in Iowa is another favorite stop for andouille sausage and fried delights (everyone likes fried corn on the cob!). Yes, I know its not technically in the "Cradle of Andouille" but we like it.

Sonnier's in Lake Chuck has a fantastic smoked boudin also.

IMO, Don's cracklin's are better than Best Stop. Boudin is a different story.

We might have stood in line together. I'm in Billy's most every other Sunday afternoon around 4:30...if the line isn't ridiculous. Friday afternoons there is hardly any lines.

To OP: The Cracklins at Honey B Ham in Lake Charles right off of 210 are really good, but they put quite a bit of sugar on them. Also the Smoked Cracklin's at Famous Foods are good.
