I'm not sure how I feel about the faux mantle with the bird picture, but that's an awesome kitchen.

regarding the mantle, it was salvaged from an old house. as far as the birds, you'll have to talk to my wife about that. the artist is actually from baton rouge--lauren barksdale is her name i believe.

Those upper cabinets look really high, but the kitchen looks great.

I have to clean my kitchen a little first. And I'm not at home. It's a condo so its not really a kitchen, more a little alcove

I do have a glass topped stove though

I'm glad you brought up the breakfast nook. Let's talk about mine for a sec. We just finished moving all of stuff in and this is how it is set up now. Hubs thinks a loveseat and coffee table should be there. I wanted the dining table there and we will buy a rug big enough to cover that area. Thoughts?

Young padawan you are, both in age and years of cooking.

The dining table looks like it would belong there. Not a sofa.

Either one would work, really. I do think that table and chairs is too small for the space. I would either get a larger dining set or do the coffee table .. but not the couch. I would use wingback chairs.

Way more useful, at least more comfortable for him to communicate with you while you're cooking. Anything that makes the kitchen the focus, gathering spot, of the house is a good thing. A dining table is just tits on a boar.

I think an open-concept main floor would really open the space up.

R2R- I might pick up some bar stools to improve the area.

Section 8? That's culture right there.

A couple of ounces of C-4 would do a great deal of improvement to your crib, just forewarn your nieghbors in advance.
