Im staying at the Windsor Court and want to grab a RB poboy before I head out this afternoon. Mother's is pretty close, but I'd rather a non-touristy place (will settle for Mother's if nothing else close). Any suggestions?

Only other one I'd consider is Johnny's, but if you want to stay in that area just go to Mother's imo.

Sorry but I was underwhelmed with johnny's. I know it gets some love on here. Definitely better than mothers though.

If I were you I'd take a short drive to parasols to get a roast beef poboy

ETA: I do love the cochon de lait @ Cajun Mike's though

Parkway makes great poboys, but their roast beef leaves A LOT to be desired.

I know you agree with me Lester.

Butcher is dynamite, but they don't make what most here would consider a roast beef poboy.

Try some of the hole in the walls lunch spots around the area. FredRick's (or whatever it is called now) has a good one.

Just add some salt and pepper and you will be fine at parkway
Or order the shrimp poboy for the win

I would love to get the A holes that screwed that place up in a dark alley. Was one of my go-to spots years ago.

Worst is that the $1 strawberry daiquiri machine broke and they tell me management won't pay to fix it. Used to grab a couple of those on general principle every time I walked by.

Man that sucks. The fried shrimp poboy used to be pretty good too. Was my favorite in the city.

That stupid group that owns all the bad tourist trap places took it over. It was a somewhat unique, well priced decent place back when all the bikers were running the kitchen, even if always sort of a tourist trap. Now it's just like every other bad tourist trap - i.e., worthless.

I second glass' suggestion for Commerce.

If you are hitting Commerce on Mondays you HAVE to roll with the red beans and fried pork chops. That's one of my go-to meals on mondays. Today I went to Mena's instead though.

And Fredricks is now Biavinue's or something
