My brother is short for his age. 4'8 and he is 11. I heard milk, chicken, and bread is good. Does anyone know what kind of milk would be best?

No type of food will really affect is growth in the immediate term. Having an x-ray of his ankles will show if his growth plates at the end of his tibia and fibula are set or show that he still has hope of growth at all. How tall are you and at what age did you stop growing is another factor to consider in the mix.

I don't think there are foods that are going to "grow him" any taller than he's going to be.

This, I was short my whole childhood. I finally got up to near normal height in high school (around 5'-2"), but between Junior and senior year I grew a couple inches and grew another couple inches my first year of college. I was barely 5' as a freshman in high school and I'm 5'-6" now

Just for the record, I knew PLENTY of dudes who were shrimpy kids and shot up at around 15 or 16. One dude I went to elem. school with was always super short and by the time we were seniors in h.s., he was 6'1" or 6'2". Just make sure your brother is eating square meals (not just junk) and takes a vitamin. He'll be fine.

Folks here like to say Tyson's chicken and pork is full of Franken Meat Factory Growth Hormones, so feed him lots of Tyson's chicken and pork. He will thank you when he gets drafted in the NBA.

On a more sensible note, I was maybe the shortest kid in my 7th grade class and 6'3" by senior year of HS. Youngest son was short/short in Jr. High and 6'8" his freshman year in college. I can remember his growth years. he claimed he hurt and was tired all the time when he was just growing like crazy. There was a three year period when it was impossible to keep him in jeans that were long enough.

Saying this to say that it may be genetic. At 6'3" both of my sons are taller than me.

Genetics have much more to say than what kind of milk you drink.

We had our first child in 1973 and we avoided processed foods for her and our son when he was born in 1978. I can't ever remember then drinking sodas or junk juices. There were a few years when my son was little that he would only eat Cocoa Puffs for breakfast, thanks to a sleepover and a lazy mom, but he got over it.

I'm 5'11", wife is 5'6", daughter is 5'11", son is 6'4", there are not a lot of tall people in our family.

As I sed in a thread recently, I grew up on tuna. Every day school lunch through middle scool. And it didn't stop their.

Tuna is brane food. As evidence, I am the smartest person you'll ever meat. No brag, just fack. You can take that two the bank!

Note to self: Do not feed tuna to my kids.

Anything with hormones. I was a few years too early for this phenomenon. Genetics mainly determine growth. Mom is 5' 2, dad is 5' 6, I'm 5' 9. Feel like I won the lottery with those odds.
