Heading up there in a few days for a long weekend. We went a few months back, went to a couple delis, they were really good, but we are looking for the best. We went to one on the upper west side, damn good, been the for 60+ years.

Barney Greengrass? If not, that's where you should go.

Not the Hello Deli (Rupert from Letterman)

Went there one afternoon before a Letterman taping and it was horrible. I've made better at home.

If you go back Majestic is 3 blocks down, and a much better option than Hello Deli.

I randomly stopped at Blarney Stone. It's an Irish Pub but serves Reubens and other normal Irish pub food for lunch. It was located about a block from the charging bull statue. Felt like a bar where mobsters might meet, but the waitresses were friendly and service was good. Food was great. It was exactly the kind of authentic NY Rueben i was looking for.

Katz. Its the most famous, and for good reason it is legitimately good. Went there this past August.

ETA: I got the Pastrami and the wife got the Reuben. Its a ridiculous amount of meat they give you, plus side of pickles.

The pastrami I had at Carnegie was the best sandwich I've ever had. Just amazing tender meat and absolutely stuffed.

Yes and good. I thought the Carnegie Deli sucked.

Do yourself a favor and get some Clam Chowder from The Grand Central Station Oyster Bar and cheap drinks and free Hot Dogs at Rudy's Bar.

Also...walk the High Line.

We went here a couple times. It was very good, but I asking about a true deli with a counter, some old Jewish man yelling at you for taking too long, and sandwiches bigger than your head.

Other recs would be 2nd Ave (not on 2nd Ave), or Sarge's.

These recs are assuming you've been to Katz. If you haven't, go to Katz.

Not Jewish, not in Manhattan, but by far my favorite is Fiore’s in Hoboken. Well worth the short walk from the PATH station.
