Damn I can't wait until they open.

Bought a case of this when I was in Santa Rosa this past January. None of it made it back to LA
I'm honestly not sure what the 'best' craft beer I've ever had is. I'm a big fan of Nola's Funk Series, but I'm also a prisoner of the moment when it comes to good beer. The 'best' beer that I'll have is the next good beer that I drink, until I drink a different one

I had their 'Serendipity' two weeks ago, was good stuff for sure.

Pliny is up there. Oak Aged Yeti is another good one. I really liked the original Ruination but I'm not a fan at all of the rebooted Ruination 2.0. It's the craft beer equivalent of New Coke. Rodenbach Grand Cru is another one that I love. Oh, speaking of New Glarus...Belgian Red.

I can't settle on one beer. So many good ones out there. I mentioned on the other thread that there are a lot of bad beers in Portland. Which is absolutely true. There are also a lot of great ones, too. There's just a lot of beer, period. I've enjoyed a lot of beers - found some unexpected surprises along the way. I drink mostly local beers and LA beers through trades. Usually, people don't send me shitty beers, so most of the bad ones are Portland beers...

Word is that Barrel Aged Double Stack will be out at some point this week. I don't know if I can handle it. Ima try to get some, first...

Funny thing is the best beers I've had are not even styles I typically drink. Kim and I shared an aged westy that blew my mind. So complex. Also had a 2015 abyss this past winter that was so incredibly smooth and delicious

quote:Nice. Will have to wait. I'm on a 100 day, alcohol-free challenge with my wife. We decided our boozy evenings needed a break for awhile when our sixteen year old told us she thought we were becoming alcoholics. So we said, you go 100 days without eating fast food and we'll match it with not drinking alcohol. I didn't expect her to agree! Oh, well. It will prove the point that we're not alkies and likely all of us improve our health.

I think most people can appreciate a well executed style, even it's not their favorite style.
I love a well-executed BA stout, but it's not a beer I can drink all the time. Hoppy IPAs, on the other hand... Let's just say that my biggest problem is which one to choose.

Hard to decide on the best, so I'll go with the one that sticks with me the most: Anchorage Love Buzz. It opened my eyes to the world of funk, and it's one I'll buy whenever I run across it, which isn't as often as I'd like.

I'm heading to Napa in a few weeks. Is it sold locally there or just at the brewery? Any other local beers you would recommend while I'm there? Thanks.

It's sold locally, too. I'm not 100% sure which stores carry it, but the Girl and the Fig (restaurant in Sonoma) had it on draft.
I can't help much on the beer scene, as Pliny the Elder was the only beer that I consumed while in the area, we were mostly drinking wine
