Ideally somewhere located downtown, mid-city or near LSU. Not looking to do something extremely fancy or expensive. Looking for a place that can hold around 55 people and has a bar for a cocktail hour.

Thoughts? TIA.

I'm going to a rehearsal dinner at Ruffino's next week. Can report my findings when I get back.

I've also been to my friend's rehearsal dinner at Jubans. It was nice but IIRC the private room wasn't big enough to hold 55 people.

Was going to say Chimes basement, but they can't hold 55. That's a large amount.

Maybe Superior Grill on Government? Do they rent out their patio?

It's a good spot for this, but it doesn't meet the location, and I don't think it can hold 55 people comfortably.

I've been to Ruffino's for one and it was nice, but I've checked prices with them and it's 50+ a head and even though I'm not paying for it, I can't justify spending close to 4K (including alcohol) for a dinner.

Not fancy, because we didn't want to... but we did mike andersons on Lee and they did a great job. Invited a bunch of friends but we didn't have 55. They might be able to handle it though

Ruffinos on third st. Food better than the highland restaurant for lower price

Definitely give them a call. We had a an extended family dinner with about 50 people and it was reasonably priced.

How much are you looking to spend on 55 folks including alcohol?

When you rent a room, you're looking at a possible use of the room cost, price of the food and alcohol, tax and gratuity.

You might need to limit your alcohol selection to cheap wines and beer, along with selecting a very modest menu.

Friends of mine had theirs at Tin Roof. They rented it out and had Datz Italian Pizza... they are kind of like a mobile pizza oven. Very good, laid back. They did tickets for beer, and were able to bring in wine also. I think 4 different types of pizza + salad and dessert pizza. It was a big hit.

great idea
datz Italian makes great pies and they are super nice people
BRQ also has a mobile catering smoker and they did a tailgate for us at LSU for my birthday last year, big hit

the rent a venue and hire a caterer idea is much more fun than a restaurant

We had a really good rehearsal dinner at The City Club. Cocktail hour with passed hors d'oeuvres and some nice entree options for the guests for the dinner itself. Z was really good to work with. The space worked well.

Can't do that anymore at Tin Roof. Thanks ATC!
