I'm sticking with turdnugget.
Alton Brown approached the food show with the idea that he'd learn how to cook first and then try to teach some of what he'd learned with the science behind what's happening in the kitchen to people that otherwise would never have this information. And he did it all wrapped in his nerdy persona.
Bourdain ran with what he knew from actually working his way up from vacation type feedbag houses to Les Halles, paired that with his writing skills, and traveled the world experiencing things and using his culinary background paired with his writing abilities to share the experience with the audience.
When Richman is eating something he knows is going to make him want to vomit in five minutes or make his arse look like the Japanese flag the next day, he runs with it. It's his schtick and when he's not looking good, he's really going through with it for the show.
When Zimmern encounters something even he can't stand to shove down his piehole, he'll let you know that it's outside of his comfort zone (code for tastes like rotten fish arse stuffed with onion) and lets the audience know that it's not real tasty.
Guy Fieri has spiky hair, sunglasses on the back of his head, a loud shirt, drives a Camaro, won a reality show to get where he is, and never met a place that served him something he didn't think was awesome. He's a puppet put out there to like things and promote restaurants.
Fieri does drive a very nice Camaro, though. I'll give him that. His taste in classic cars is strong to quite strong.

You don't think they check out these DDD places before he goes to make sure they're good and he's going to get the best dishes? I'd be shocked if they didn't. Showing great DDD places is the point of the show.

PLus he is eating very basic dishes compared to Andrew zimmern.
Guy eats from very American places where a sandwich of tater tots on a Philly cheese steak is going out of the box. Zimmern is eating bugs and animal organs from all around the world

He highlights local places that try to do it right, and take pride in their product. What's wrong with that? Are there not enough other outlets for you to get your restaurant reviews?

Yes, he eats at restaurants that operate in the U.S, obviously there's plenty of bar food, but he's eaten plenty of ethnic foods on the show. When I wanna watch a show about places I'd wanna eat at, I watch DDD. When I wanna watch a show where I have to think if I'd attempt anything he'd eat on there, I'll watch Zimmern.

he has but most of the stuff is very generic
what im getting at is that zimmern is eating things you cannot get but maybe a few places in the world other than where he is at
i really like both shows and hosts fwiw

Different people. Different shows with different genres and goals. Not really comparable.

The car is David Page's that was his first producer and linked to the article I posted a few pages back and was told its a hatchet job.
And to be clear I love the show for where he goes but don't care for the host of the show. I think that's a fair and common assessment.
And FWIW I'll watch the Wheel and Im not a Pat Sajak fan but Vanna White can turn my letters anytime.
Crap. I just showed how old I am.

Don't like the show because of him but I do watch it for the places he goes. Been to a couple and have not been disappoint yet. Just got back from Phoenix and went to Matt's Big Breakfast and it was tremendous.
