That was never my intention; I'm not perverted. I have danced with her before just not on a true date and the event has live music playing with the movie. I'll think about what you're saying though.

it doesn't sound fun to be out in the heat.

It's not JUST movie. Dinner first and then it's not like it's as quiet as a movie theater. It's on a field somewhere in city park and there's a live band playing an original score to the silent movie.
One of the best "movies" I've ever seen was a black and white film with a professional symphony orchestra providing the musical score...I believe it was a Kurosawa film and it was better than any movie theater. An awesome experience.
HOWEVER...I'm with the consensus that it wouldn't make for a good first date.
I know it's not near your intended venue, but I'll throw Duang Tawan into the mix. I've always felt relaxed there and not rushed, it's never overly noisy or busy and they have decent food. I agree with the small plates that have been mentioned. Get an appetizer or two and share an entree. Would be a good place for conversation and drinks imo.

Why I always get a second date..
And for God's sake turn off your damn phone.

Agree, BUT
1. He's not going to a movie. It's a pretty cool sounding event; not sitting in a theater watching The Avengers.
2. Outside is not a great idea UNLESS it is something she'd be excited about. Not everyone is the same when it comes to stuff like this, but unless she is enthusiastic about it, I'd pick something different.
And whoever said take her dancing. Sounds like a terrible idea. But I'm old.
P.S. Everyone responding so far is "old" so keep in mind that we only think we know what we are talking about.

It's a silent film.
Does that mean it's ok to talk?

I hate dancing, so that wouldn't be my thing either.
I'd love apps and drinks though.

I'd rather go to Bath and Body Works and hold her purse while she samples lotions.
Maybe that's a bit of an exaggeration, but if we go dancing, I'm guessing that is the next step.

1st Date locations....and GEAUX
Movie on a first date. Not a good idea. 1st date is supposed to be about getting to know each other. This isn't high school when your first date is going to the top row of a movie theater, making out, and hoping for a handie
That's middle school

I'm thinking of bringing her to a dinner and movie (BREC city park/live music/silent film event).
As most have stated, movie on a first date is not a good idea in general. However, a silent film with music could be an exception. If it's a nice night and a short film (under 1:15 min) with dinner to discuss the film would be nice. However, this better be something you know she is really interested in doing. If this is just a whim, cancel and make new plans.

Perfectly states my poorly stated sentiments.

Are people old when they break into the 30's? Geez...you'd have most people with one foot in the grave pretty damn young.

Compared with people in their 20's and when the context is something like dating?
Absolutely.

According to whats his name last week, Charlie G's in Lafayette is the place to bring her on the 1st date.
