5 nights at each, properties are Grand Hyatt in Kauai and Andaz Hyatt in Mauai.

We may stay somewhere on the north part of the island on the last day in Kauai (Princeville area), but having a tough time finding a place for just one night.

I've got a rental car for 5 days at each place too, so we've got some flexibility to drive places too.

I appreciate any feedback, so TIA. This will be our honeymoon trip FWIW.

Waimea Canyon on Kauai is pretty amazing. If hiking is your thing you may want to check out the Na Pali coast trail. Kauai is an absolutely beautiful island.

I've never been to Maui, so I can't help there.

I wouldn't say "hiking is our thing", but we do enjoy the outdoors. Those views are breathtaking and would be well worth the trek. This may be something we plan for our day 4 at Kauai, since we plan to stay up north that evening. Thanks for the suggestion.

I asked if hiking was your thing because it's not an especially easy hike up to the waterfall. The views were amazing and the waterfall is beautiful, though.

I gotcha. We've done plenty of moderately difficult hikes and are down to do it. We just don't "live for hiking" like some do. I think it's a good option for a day though. Thanks Again.

St. Regis Princeville is great. Kauai is certainly an outdoorsy island. I would look at a sunset cruise on the Na'Pali coast. Tacos at Da Crack in Poipu are fantastic, as is the Poke at any one of the Koloa Town shops.

Kauai - Jeep and drive the island. you can see a bunch and not hike that much. helicopter tour. snorkel kee beach. eat The Beach Club (at sunset). just a great island.

Maui - convertible or jeep. like destin on steroids. Haleakala volcano. road to hana. snorkel a bunch of places. eat Mama's Fish House. golf. sun. more commercialized.

The sunrise bike tour at Halleakala is pretty amazing

Road to Hana is nice, but the day can get long...I hated saying it but how many waterfalls can one person see.

Maui Breweing

Mamas Fish House

Feast at Lele Luau or Old Lahaina Luau...both are good

We looked at that. It does look great! Pretty pricey for just a one night stay though. Approx. $700 just isn't worth it to check in late in the day and leave early the next morning. We wouldn't really get to enjoy/experience the luxury of the hotel, if that makes sense.

Definitely will be looking at this. Any rec's on a company?

I've got a convertible for 5 days each Island, is there a topographical reason to go with a jeep in Kauai instead? As is, will the "mustang or equivalent" I booked not be able to get around the inclines and such?

Kauai is such an awesome island with so much to do. I highly recommend this book - Kauai Revealed to use as an Index to what it has to offer. It also has a companion app that works great.

We spent a week there (at GHK as well) last October. I was simply in awe of Kauai.

I believe some of the trails in Waimea canyon may require 4wd.

Car will be fine. We had a midsized Sunday and the only place we may have needed it was parking at the end of the road on the north shore to check out Ke'e and the caves

Good to hear on the car. I may swap to a jeep if I can when we get there. Could be fun to have...

So the trip is right around the corner. Mid October.

Wife and I took a tube ride down the canals on Kauai...it was pretty awesome...they were defunct irrigation canals that ran from the top of the mountain to irrigate the sugar cane farms. Tunnels, nice scenery lunch by at waterfall at the end...pretty cool and very unique.

Remember to keep ur helmet on while tubing...water gets fast in some places and you can get turned around and hit the cave walls pretty hard.

Got this in the mail the other day from amazon and got the Mauai version as well.
