I guess hiring Pelini was Myles fault, and his fault for how bad they played defense and gave up a shite ton of points. Losing to those teams was all on the crappy defense more than the offense.

Myles will start. Max is the better QB, hands down. (Actually Nuss has the most talent, just not ready yet.) Unfortunately Myles will get hurt again. He will make it through the first 3 games fine but once we enter SEC play and face SEC defenses he'll unfortunately get injured somewhere between Mississippi State and Florida. Myles is just prone to injury because he does not absorb tackles very well.

Myles is terrible at making plays when it counts. His third down conversion rate is terrible. When the chips are on the line defense know to blitz Myles and he gets happy feet and either gets sacked or throws incompletions.
But on 1st and 2nd down Myles is great. He's a stat machine on 1st and 2nd downs.
The question is, do you want stats or wins?

We could make a drinking game from Max, Myles and Mulkey threads. We’d all be dead.

More yards does not equal best start in LSU history. He was not good versus Mississipi State. A 45.1 QBR, less than 60% completion, 3-2 interception ratio and 5-17 on 3rd downs does not equal a good performance. Sure he threw for a lot of yards but anyone will if they throw 50 passes. Against Missouri, he was a little better with 60% completion and a lot better with 4-0 td to interception ratio but again he struggled on 3rd down going 0-10 on 3rd downs, and that is still not cutting it. He also took 9 sacks in those 2 games, not all his fault but his pocket awareness isn't where it should have been coming into his 3rd year in college.
I'm not saying Max will be the starter, I'm saying you're a fool if you think there isn't a competition for that spot right now.

Max gives LSU a better chance to win games.

Brennan had better numbers vs better defenses. Here’s the comparison.
Brennan- 370.7ypg, 3.7TDs per game, 60.3%comp, 157.7 passer rating vs defenses that ranked 81st in ypg and 85th in ppg
Johnson- 337ypg, 3TDs per game, 58.7%, 134.8 passer vs defenses that ranked 104th in ypg and 96th in ppg

You’re using a team stat and putting it on an individual. We had 3rd down running plays we didn’t convert, we also had 3 or 4 3rd down passes completed just short of the sticks that we converted on 4th down. Brennan’s individual 3rd down% was something like 32% which was almost the same as Johnson’s.

ETA: Those stats for Johnson include numbers from three games where Johnson did not start and came in during garbage time.
The games were Johnson started he had a QB rating of 140.9 and he rushed of those 97 yards.

Had chances to win and choked. Burrow would have cut the jugular and finished them.
You do know that 2019 wasn't the only season Burrow played right?

Brennan put up more yards and points than any defense he faced averaged giving up, Johnson didn’t.

You keep saying this but leave out rushing stats. You know rushing is part of football, right?

Brennan contributed to allowing the defense back on the field by not converting 3rd downs.

Just stating facts but you’re using selective stats while ignoring others. You exclude some of Johnson’s throws and runs yet you don’t exclude over a half of football where Brennan played with a season ending injury. Brennan put up better numbers vs better defenses and put up more yards and points than any defense he faced averaged giving up, Johnson didn’t.

Myles starts but has to fight to keep the job, imo. We're in good hands. They're both fantastic QBs
I guarantee both will play even if no injuries occur...

That’s a damn good breakdown.

“Sure he threw for a lot of yards but anyone will if they throw 50 passes. “
Johnson attempted 19 more passes than Brennen yet Brennan still threw for more yards, more TDs and completed a higher percentage with a better passer rating.

No I'm not. You left out rushing. I just included it to paint a clearer picture.

Anyone that thinks that Max is going to start over Myles is out of their mind. Through his first 3 games, Myles had a better start than anyone in LSU history, and that includes Joe Burrow.
I agree with you but there is one small problem... Brennan did not exhibit the IT factor and Max did. MB was 1-2 in his three starts and even as bad as the defense played to support him in those two losses he had a good chance to win both games and he did not. Max pulled two games out that he should not have won.
Because of that MB will have a short leash.
