Some of u guys don't watch much football! Why did Max only get to start the last 2 games ? Boy should have played all season. I admire Miles waiting but we need to start the best player!

Through his first 3 games, Myles had a better start than anyone in LSU history, and that includes Joe Burrow.

I don't care who starts, as long as it's based on who is playing the best, and not based on seniority or favoritism. May the best man win.

That being said, the statement you made is the most overstated and misrepresented stat in the history of LSU football. Myles played the entirety of the first three games, because LSU was terrible, and he was also a turnover machine in the first game. He improved dramatically over the next two, but he compiled more stats from having to play longer. I should add that none of the three teams were good.

Joe's first three games of 2019 included a trip to Texas, and the other two were lopsided victories in which he didn't get to do anything in the second half but handoff, for the most part.

To claim that Myles actually had a "better" start than Burrow is entirely false. There is something called efficiency. Joe blew away Myles in that category. Please stop using this "Myles was better than Joe to start the year" argument, people.

Well, MB went 9-39 on 3rd down...so he did have his part in wearing out LSU's defense!

Johnson attempted 19 more passes than Brennen yet Brennan still threw for more yards, more TDs and completed a higher percentage with a better passer rating.

That’s a damn good breakdown.

The real question is why did finley start over max?

Max won games. Brennan did not.

I am a huge fan of QBs being committed, staying on campus, working hard and taking over as upperclassmen.

But reality is one won, one did not. I would bet Max starts.

Brennan should’ve thrown 2 picks in the spring game. If he’s our starters we’re losing 3 games at least.

A QB like Brennan has never beaten Bama under saban that I can recall

Right. Saban and that bama defense would LOVE to have Brennan as the starting LSU QB. LOVE IT.

Getting open will be very difficult because the bama defense would be able to just sit back an not worry about any QB runs with Brennan at the helm. When Burrow and the Tiger beat bama Burrow had 64 yards rushing. Brennan ain't giving you that and bama doesn't have to worry about that.

Can Max give you that? Probably not but he can likely give you 30-40 yards which would make teams respect his running threat and not sit on his throws.

As soon as the opponents DL gets penetration on a consistent basis, it MJ and it's not close. He turn a 10 yard sack into positive yards when MB cannot. Those plays are drive killers and drive killing plays swing momentum.
MJ gives LSU the best statistical probability to win vs every opponent, end of story.

A better breakdown on their 1st 2 starts.

Johnson 48/87 55% for 674 yards 6 TDs 1 Int; 32 carries for 97 yards.

Brennan 56/94 59% for 775 yards 7 TDs 2 Int; 15 carries for -39 yards. (Miss St and Missouri) forgot about Vanderbilt. Replace Vanderbilt with Missouri and its 50/83 60% 7 Tds 3 Int for 682 yards; 13 carries for -35 yards.

Through their 1st 2 starts, Max averaged 60 more yards a game total and 2 less interceptions. The biggest takeway for me is 1 was a true freshman and the other a 4th year junior. Thats why the spot is up for grabs between them two.

You can really tell who the idiots are in this thread on both sides of the argument. They are the ones tearing down the other player to make a case for their player.

The mental midgets doing this need to realize, with the exception of the two years with Joe Burrow, we have the best QB room in the history of LSU football, yet they feel the need to attack the other player(s) who arent Their Guy.

Personally, going into the spring, I thought Brennan would solidify the starting job. After the spring scrimmage (not game, but scrimmage) I tend to believe it is a tossup with Johnson maybe having an edge. This is not due to anything Brennan has done to lose the job, but rather what Johnson brings in regards to excuting the run/keep option, and Brennan still working his way into shape.

Not as atrocious as Florida and Ole Miss’ defenses. Florida ranked 74th in points allowed and 83rd in yards allowed. Ole Miss ranked 118th in points allowed and 126th in yards allowed. Compared to Miss St. 58th in points allowed, 57th in yards allowed. Missouri 113th in points allowed, 66th in yards allowed and Vandy 85th in points allowed, 121st in yards allowed. The defenses Brennan faced ranked an average of 85th in points allowed and 81st in yards allowed. The defenses Johnson faced ranked 96th in points allowed and 104th in yards allowed....

Brennan faced better defenses

you're really just splitting hairs there, neither really faced a murderer's row of defenses and just leave it at that. No point in trying to prop one up over the other in that category

really you can toss a lot out from last season because D was pretty much no existent across the board, even by CFB standards

Marginally yes, we're talking 20 yards per game average difference and 2 points a game difference. I'm only arguing that there is a QB competition, not one for the other.

My hope is Brennan steps up and takes the lead, has a great year and goes Pro. Then we will have a Johnson, Nuss, (possibly Finely) and Howard competition next spring thru fall for our new QB. I think all of those guys have better potential in the next few years than Brennan has this year but time will tell. Like the other poster said, its a stacked QB room.
