Myles still to me just doesn’t look like the guy when he’s out there. Yes he has the arm talent and the experience, but when Max is on the field things just look different. Smoother and more productive. Myles has paid his dues, but when I need a gamer to go out and put the team on their shoulders and drive the field for a win, I just don’t see it in him

Myles has 2 years left......if he’s still here mid summer he’s your starter.

Remember how Burrow did this.....He wasn’t given any assurances from Meyer so he left Ohio St.

If Brennan is still around in the next 2 months you have your answer....

Me personally, I think assurances have been given and Myles is in “football school” like Burrow did. More film study than school

Pretty sure Myles wasn’t the one giving up 700 yards to Miss St

Myles will end up the starter but not necessarily because he is the best QB on the team but because if Max is anointed the starter, Myles will inevitably transfer. Which means because TJ will also inevitably transfer, that true freshman Garrett Nussmeier would be the only backup on the team.

Meanwhile, Max isn't going anywhere because he will in all probability be the starter next season and then who knows, Myles may get hurt again.

Neither did Brennan. That’s a team stat you posted not the QBs 3rd down conversion or completion rate. Or did you think we threw the ball every 3rd down?

I like Myles, but let's have perspective. Myles played against 3 teams that were a combined 9-21 last season and he led the team to a 1-2 record against them. That's not a good start.

Flipside, Max played against 2 teams with a combined 13-9 record and led the team to 2-0 against those two.

TD:Int stats were similar and Florida's defense was significantly better than Moo St, Vandy, Mizzou.

Couple that in with the way Max played against AU, Bama, and aTm and I don't think you can say he hasn't earned the right to be in the competition for the starting spot.

Max also did it without Marshall and Gilbert.

There is definitely a competition, and I'm glad there is. Competition pushes them to get better. With that said, I think our offense runs more smoothly with a more mobile quarterback in the pocket. If myles is the starter I hope he can maneuver in the pocket more and extend plays. That was his biggest issue. Max's mobility in the pocket is better than myles' but Myles' can make throws all over the field. We will be good with either at the helm in my opinion.

I don't agree with this.

All Orgeron has to say to Myles is that he's leading but that he has to play well in the Fall.

What's Myles going to do? Walk away from the LSU QB position that he's leading?

Uhhh....Burrow didn't loose 2 out of 3! I know, your talking those glorious stats, the only stat that counts is W/L record.

Everyone that’s arguing that Max is better suited to run our offense is a complete idiot. I can’t believe there’s so many ignorant fans on this message board.

I'll say it for the 12th time. The people who think Max has the edge aren't talking like this. Only those who think Myles does are. The arrogance and complete dismissiveness of anything having to do with Max is ridiculous.

But you'll "support whoever starts" right?

frick off.

He has yet to prove to me that he is a winner. Would love examples.

I second this. Other than empty stats, what is there? If it's Myles, great. Coaches saw what I couldn't, because that's their job and not mine, and I trust them.

But every one of these threads gives none of what you're asking for.

U smoking good powder? Myles played trash defenses so of course he was going to look better than a true freshman getting his first start he’s been at LSU for damn near 5 years. Max is then best QB on the roster but only time will tell.

It is a team stat as is red zone conversion however the QB has every thing to do with moving the offense and how the coaches call plays.

Brennan was timid under pressure, gained some momentum against Missouri in that department and was injured. Without the injury maybe he completes the easy last two passes of that game and starts 2-1.

My take is he just did not command the offense but I will for sure say he throws the ball extremely good and is accurate.

To me the verdict is out with Brennan and yes many of the 3rd down conversions missed were due to lack of handling pressure by Brennan which if were converted would have led to 2 more wins.

Defense was weak due to losing 9 players that strongly contributed to 2019 championship and just too much to overcome along with offensive line from 2019 that led the conference. Brennan given more time would have developed better in my opinion and is just not mobile enough to handle the pressure that our OL gave up. Max being more mobile handled the pressure and opened up more opportunities.

Let’s do a win percentage comparison then overlay their age, experience and top player participation.

Here’s your results :
Max started as a true Fr
Max won ALL of his starts (100%)
Max won with less talent on the field
Max beat a ranked team on the road

Brennan probably starts for other reasons but don’t act like it’s due to objective performance metrics

Also gave up 34 to Florida and 48 to Ole Miss, and a depleted offensive arsenal at that point and Max won those games.

The fact the Myles is in his 5th year and still has ent separated himself tells me it’s Max.

Go ahead and down vote away, but come September 4th, Myles will be starting against UCLA

That is more likely than not, but you can’t discount how Johnson played down the stretch and the limitations with Myles.
