Headed to Destin next week for 5 days with the family, what’s the best things to cook?

Ice, vodka, tonic, repeat.....that’s to start. We usually do ribs. The condo we stay in only has picnic style grills, so I start them in the oven and finish them on the crappy grills. Always a crowd pleaser.

Do easy shite. Bring a lasagna. Do burgers.

Where in Destin? We had a condo down there for about 15 years, right across from the water park. If it’s still there, there’s a good seafood market where we used to get fresh seafood and did a shrimp boil and some fish to grill for a couple of nights.

Tacos....the old school crunchy kind, withseasoned ground beef or Turkey. Make the filling in advance, freeze, and reheat when you need it. All you have to do is shred some lettuce, cheese, and put out the sour cream, sliced black olives, jalapeños, salsa, chopped tomatoes, etc. so that everyone can assemble their own.
Baked potatoes with a similar fix your own approach is another easy crowd pleaser. While oven baked potatoes take 45 mins or longer, they’re dead simple and require no attention whole in the oven.

I always make a big batch of salsa. Everyone likes eating it in the evenings when getting back from the beach. Usually have to make another by the third day.

Boil shrimp the first night. You can have peel and eat shrimp, and you can peel some and make shrimp salad to have on sandwiches and crackers, use some for omelets, lots of things you can do with the shrimp.

BBQ shrimp with oranges, baked beef tenderloin, homemade biscuits, chicken salad, steamed shrimp...

Each to his own, but the big hit for our family get together is always BLT sandwiches. We show up with a bunch of tomatoes from our garden, and make sandwiches for lunch and supper.
Most of our family doesn't have access to homegrown, so it's kinda a big deal. We'll boil some shrimp and pick up some smoked mullet dip, and it makes for good eating for the entire week.
