QBs are such a crap shoot. I like Burrow, but Young is more of a sure thing. Who would the MSB go with?

If you want to win in the NFL you need a QB. You have a take a chance on one.

If you don’t have a QB you aren’t going anywhere

The LSU fan in me says Burrow

The couch GM in me says you need to build the team before getting a QB that can take you there. Getting a good QB with a bad supporting team (whether it be no defense, no OL, no weapons) just ain't it. Unbiased, if I'm Cincy I take Young. Maybe even trade down if I can get an extra first.

They have an elite defense. The Bengals are trash all over. It really doesn't matter who we pick.

Not an LSU fan at all and I think Burrow is going to be an elite pro QB. Young is a future Hall of Famer if he stays healthy, but he won't change a franchise from the ground up.

The problem with building around a team with no QB is that you still will need a QB one day, and getting one is basically impossible outside the draft. If you really like Burrow as a franchise guy, you take him. You may never get another shot at a franchise guy.

Lawrence is still a better pro prospect and Cincy will be awful again in 2020. Take the sure thing in Young, go 2-14 and take Lawrence next year.

the reality is, with QBs it's pretty ridiculous to make these kind of claims

If I hired Taylor because of his offensive background then I’m going QB first overall

...until Trevor Lawrence is hurt his junior season.

You take your franchise QB here. You can’t wait around another year for a guy that might end up like Tua did this year.

I would take Young and grab a QB next season. To me Burrow is a good prospect but Young is the kind of player I just don't think you see but maybe once a decade

I just don't see Burrow as a franchise QB.

Feels like we hear this once a year though.

And you can get that in FA. But a good QB can frick up your draft selection to build around him secondarily while they carry a sorry team to mediocrity and never get them over the hump. If you build good lines and get some weapons and then go find a QB, I think it fares better.

Chase Young. A good pass rush to help their LBs and DBs will help them win more than a rookie QB next year.

It'll likely take them a year or two to rebuild their offensive line before a rookie QB won't be hammered. They need to build outward from the offensive and defensive lines.

October 4th - Bengals’ OL scored record-low PFF grades against the Steelers
quote:

In all seriousness, this was among the five worst offensive line performances we have seen in the PFF era with their offensive linemen taking home a PFF pass-block grade of 21.4, the fourth-worst in a single game since 2006 (by far the worst by a Bengals team – next worst came 2017 Week 9 at Jacksonville at 33.7). No team lost more matchups in a single game in the PFF era than the Bengals did last night, and they also gave up a franchise-record amount of pressures.

Right tackle Bobby Hart finished the nightmare with a 24.1 pass-block grade and allowed seven total pressures (15.2% pressure rate). Right guard John Miller (30.1 pass-block grade) and left guard Michael Jordan (15.1 pass-block grade) were just as guilty as Hart was with those two combining for seven pressures allowed. Oh, and let’s not forget 2018 first-round pick Billy Price’s brief appearance where he allowed a sack on one of his four pass-block snaps.

I'd agree for the most part but I really do think Burrow will be a very good pro QB. Obviously everyone needs a good situation, but from what I've seen of Burrow (skill, physical measurement, temperament, drive, etc.), I think he will be good. No one is a sure thing, of course.
