Though as some posters mentioned, companies are shifting more towards open spaces, shared spaces. Even allowing remote work from home but having empty desks available when needed in the office. Offices will look very different in 20+ years
Some places are going to "hotel desks" meaning no one has an assigned desk or spot. When you show up you just take an open spot. This really only works if you have a large portion of folks who work remote or at least bouncing from location to location. They only wanted you in the office once or twice a week or as needed if you require a face to face meeting with someone. It seemed to work fine. The space wasn't just a cube farm, it had a few desk carrels, some lounge chairs, a couple of conference tables and even picnic tables outside. So you had your pick of how you wanted to work that day.

My dad used to have a cubicle in a big office with 50 or so other folks. He was a purchasing manager for John Deere

That's how big 4 accounting firms work. Usually only senior managers, and partner have offices.

So glad I work for myself. I have a real office. It has a nice couch where I snooze after lunch.

I used to work in a cubicle it was awful. I hated it. I am so glad I found a job where I have my own office.

I work for a mortgage company, we are all in cubicles besides the managers.

I have an office but usually end up having to hang out in the cube farm because that is where my subordinates are.

My office is 90% cubicles [outside of the shop]. We are a industrial manufacturing facility.
Similar, but some of our offices are open space. I do not really care for it, but you get used to it.

most oil and gas companies have cubicle areas, with only project managers and above in offices

Not uncommon at big engineering firms. Chevron in Covington looks a lot like that.

Same. My cubicle job though required a lot of time on the phone and it was distracting as hell to listen to other conversations, people walking behind you, etc. I probably wouldn't have minded much if I was rarely on the phone. We'd have some lively conversations at times that did make the day go by faster.

Large law firms. Attorneys in the offices while some paralegals and mostly all legal assistants are in cubicles.

I work in technology (healthcare realted) and I've worked out of an office, and out of cubicles, but now I work remotely. I see cubes a lot when I visit clients. It's mostly shared space, though because a lot of the positions have the ability to work from home.

I’m a piping designer at an engineering firm. It’s mostly cubicles with a few offices on the perimeter for PMs. It’s not as bad as it seems. We have many interesting convos throughout the day and throw things at each other over the cube walls for fun

I can vouch for cubicles being used by the United States Army going back to the 1970s at least.

Lower level administrative duties and some inside sales folks. We call it cube city. It is a depressing place. I'm in outside sales and when we come into office for monthly meetings or just show up to retrieve something or one on one meetings with lab, finance etc, the disdain in their eyes for my freedom of movement is something. Those poor schmucks are there 8-5 everyday.
