What are jobs that large groups of people sit in cubicles all day?

I hear this referenced a lot and see TV shows but this idea seems so foreign to me.
Are there people here that work in this environment?
What type of jobs does this consist of?
Do you really just sit in a little square all day, stop off at other people’s square to shoot the shite or go to the water cooler?

My office is 90% cubicles [outside of the shop]. We are a industrial manufacturing facility.

That kind of corporate environment is shrinking because it’s not a productive setting. Many companies spend a ton of money to get consultants to design creative and efficient layouts to boost productivity.
Some companies still do it. Soulless insurance companies, customer service reps, and sales people typically

Tech companies who remove the partitions and call it an open space are just lipstick on a pig though. It's still very common.

We are mostly in cubes too. I've gone from cube to office to cube.

I walked through the accounting floor of Schering Plough (make Coppertone sunscreen and Maybeline makeup) in Memphis years ago, and they had a bunch of people in cubicles. Trane has a bunch of cubes at their office too, but I don't know what those people are doing

I have buddies that are managers and live in a huge cube farm. Their company got rid of most individual offices.

But where do you hang pictures of Braxtyn and Jaxton?

Any major large corporation. They are usually over staffed with engineers, accountants, admins, IT, etc. also usually have 3-4 tiers of management in each group.
This is my life. We recently got a ping pong table in the kitchen space and it’s awesome. Of course a few guys have already been ‘talked to’ about playing. Word has gotten around and now nobody plays out of fear of getting ‘talked to’. This is a different world. People actually do work less than 30% of the time they are here, but everyone looks professional and is too busy to take anything on.
