Is the fig overrated or underrated?

I say just a bit underrated
I mean people seem to enjoy fig newtons
But other then that, it’s not like you hear about figs much.
Anyway, right now I’m eating some sun dried figs and I’ll have to say
They’re pretty tasty

Totally underrated.
I know not many people have access to fresh figs off of a tree, but they are absolutely delicious. Everyone should be able to try them at least once.

Well for starters that what I call the vajayjay, a "Fig". Secondly, I have a large fig tree and my wife and I put up 30 to 40 jars of real fig preserves every year. We also garnish plates with figs when we cook something fancy. So over or underrated, I like figs!

Underrated. We have a fig tree and use them for jams and glazes. Delicious deep sweet taste
Also fig newtons are gross

When I was growing up, many families had fruit trees in their yards and figs were pretty much a staple. There were also Japanese Plums, Cooking Pears, Persimmons and a variety of citrus trees.
My fig tree finally gave up the ghost due to age but I do have a replacement growing now.
The main trick is getting outside to pick them before the birds peck holes in them early in the mornings.

I’ve got a fig tree as big as a school bus
we have a pact with the birds and squirrels...they get the figs above ladder height, we get the ones below that

Fig preserves on a biscuit are hard to beat. We put up a bunch every year.
And I was fortunate to have a serving of home-made fig and honey ice cream that was a game changer.

Carrolton Market had a fig salad on their menu two summers ago. Fresh figs, goat cheese, basil and a honey vinagrette. Best salad I have ever eaten.

Serious question (not meant as a shot), but what makes something a "salad?" I have had some butternut squash salads that have very limited kale in them, so I said that justified it as a salad. Are there more indicators? I've never understood that

Good question, I don’t know
