My favorite cocktail. Yardbird’s in Vegas has one that is fantastic.

Black cherries are the secret ingredient.

Most of the time. Moxie’s makes a great classic one.

No. Luxardo cherries are.

Also my favorite cocktail but man some places absolutely butcher it. I’m talking about high end places like Ruth’s putting an orange slice and maraschino cherry in it.
Most places in Nola do it right.

that's actually one of the worst i've had. it had so much simple syrup in it the drink was pink.

My favorite is at home. I use good bourbon or rye, brown sugar simple syrup I made, luxardo cherry, and a lemon peel with peychauds bitters.

I’ve got some rye whiskey, bitters, and maple syrup all made by Whistlepig. Once I get a good verified recipe I’ll make my own at home with that. Any suggestions?

The Turtle Bar at Houma's House Plantation makes a damn good Old Fashioned.

I like, 2 oz of bourbon or rye. High proof preferred. 2 bar spoonfuls of simple syrup (I make my own 1:1 ratio) couple dashes of bitters. Minimum ice, no filler like water or soda, and orange peel. No muddling. Sometime I add a cherry

I have not had that issue. May have been a rookie bartender.
