Is Liverpool still a "big" club?

I don't follow EPL like most here do, but these days when I think of the big dogs, they don't come to mind.
Kinda remind me of a Newcastle United.

10-15 would include a champions league trophy.
I mean a one bad owner followed by the brink of administration and it's taken us a few years to really get this thing going in a positive direction. But it wasn't too long ago our uefa coefficient was number 1.

Certainly.
Liverpool --along with clubs like AC Milan and Inter-- would need to fall on very hard times for at least a couple of decades to no longer be considered among the biggest clubs in Europe.
Very hard times are not finishing barely out of the CL spots for a few seasons.

Yeah. Ironically enough, I don't think of any English team as a big dog at the moment. Interested to see what the managers in their 2nd year will do.

I think it has some validity if you're talking about teams who can seriously compete in the UCL.
You could argue that Real, Barca, Bayern, Juve and Atletico are the only true "big clubs" in Europe right now. The best of the Premier League is a step down at the moment.

Newcastle are a much bigger club than most Americans realize but they still aren't near the same breath as Liverpool.

"Big Club" means something different across the pond than it does here. With American eyes, I think we see big club as one which wins the league or whatever every year.
I know it's simplistic, but history counts, as do other factors. They're still a big deal to a lot of people, are Newcastle. Goes by season-tickets and club membership as well as world-wide reach.

This is absolutely true. Feel like as Americans we look at the champions league level clubs or those just below them as the "big" clubs. Hell I've seen national pundits refer to Sunderland as a big club just about every year admist our annual coaching search. Here that sounds absolutely ridiculous, but when you're looking at a club that puts 40-45k in the stadium every week has a wage bill in the top 10-15 in England, it probably does seem like a big club compared to dozens and dozens of other clubs over there.
