Magic was so smooth with everything he did on the court. I consider myself lucky to grow up watching the Magic-Bird rivalry.

Jordan over Ehlo was the shot that defined the generation.
I get Magic's was in the Finals, but Jordan defined the generation more than Magic ever did.

That's a whole lot of stupid.
Jordan is the GOAT with more great moments than any player ever.
But the Lakers-Celtics defined the 1980's and the survival/growth/explosion of the NBA. Period.
The Magic shot and following Bird miss essentially gave the Lakers the edge over the Celtics for team of the decade.
Iconic as it was, a shot to win a first round playoff series and then not even sniff a championship does not compare.

No not really.
Jordan was same generation, unless now a generation is less than 10 years.
Magic declared in 79 Jordan in 84, that is the same generation.

Magic is considered an 80s player. Jordan a 90s.

And then this shot defined the next generation

Never mind you guys are going to argue everything no matter what today.
Jordan was an 80's player also, you know when the Jordan's came out, the Spike Lee commercials, the Olympics in LA, the winning shot in NCAA Title game all in the 80's.

Magic nailing a sky hook over McHale, Parrish and Bird to take a commanding 3-1 Finals lead > Jordan hitting a game winner over some goofball named Ehlo in the first round against the fricking Cavs.
The Bulls and the unbeatable MJ didn't even make it past the ECF that year

GOAT.
And the Lakers never get Magic if Jerry West called the shots since he really wanted Sidney Moncrief.
Bill Sharman GOAT Lakers Executive

Man, the ref should have called delay of game on Bird for standing out of bounds. Could have changed the outcome of the game.

When did he get his championships? When did he get his MVPs?
Jordan didn't define the 80s. He did most of his defining in the 90s.
The 80s are the Celtics/Lakers generation.

And Jordans defining NBA moment of the 80's was this somewhat overhyped shot that finally got him pass the 1st or 2nd round?
