The far northeast is incredible. The adirondacks, green mountains, white mountains, all of Maine... the people are super nice in this region.

I am only living in 1 or 5. Gotta be a few hours from the ocean. Would consider 3.

4 - Midwest
I have to agree with this, especially in the more north midwest states. Also, I do not like cold weather all that much so that plays a factor.
If I am basing my decision strictly on weather, I would stay in the deep south. Louisiana (specifically South Louisiana), Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, Florida.. Or even South Carolina. To be completely honest, I wouldn't mind living somewhere off the coast of the Gulf of Mexico just because, even when it is really hot, you still have the breeze blowing in from the Gulf.

Staying within the OP guidelines, #4 is without a doubt the worst. Terrible weather, unattractive people, bad food, landlocked.
However, if you look strictly at the summer season, #4 is pretty awesome and the Southwest would be worst.

I'm gonna go with Midwest as the worst.
ETA: or maybe the Southwest. It's one of those two for sure.

You have to almost double the numbers of regions to make this worthwhile.
The Great Lakes states should be grouped together and separated out from states like Nebraska, SD, ND, and Kansas. Mid Atlantic and southeast needs to split and Nevada is more like AZ and NM than Colorado and Wyoming/Montana

I'd easily say 3 is the worst for me.
And at all the people saying 6 is the worst. I'm not going to sit here and say it's the best (that'd be 1 for me), but the worst? Damn people it's just a couple months of cold weather get past it.

I'd have to say 7.
While both AK and HI have a romantic allure, I've heard both are pretty terrible to live permanantly.
There are parts to region 4 that are great states to live and work
Anyone who says region 1 is the worst is too politically overbiased

You should get out more. Colorado is full of people.
Better yet, keep thinking that! If people stay away from here and go to Colorado, the better for us.

No kidding. It is very likely I wouldn't get along with anyone who mentions #1 as the worst.

It's clear you've never stepped foot in these states. The natural beauty both offer separate them from Oklahoma and Texas.
Been to both. Multiple times. Perfect example of it's nice to visit but I wouldn't want to live there.

You'd rather live in Oklahoma than Arizona? I guess we see livability a little differently

4 and it is not even close

5...and as everyone here likes to say...it's not even close.
order of preference:
1, 2, 3, 6, 4,
5 (or just kill me)

After reconsidering, I'd say that 3-Southwest is the worst, the Midwest (4) beats it out due to Chicago, Minneapolis, Madison, Michigan UP, and Badlands. Sure there are some shitty areas in the Midwest (Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, Indiana, Ohio), but there are 12 states represented there. The Southwest is only comprised of 4 states, so they can't really afford to have 'throw-away' states like the Midwest can.
