Kikaha did play well his rookie year. We'll see how he bounces bounces back from the injury. Front office probably wants to see what he has this year to make a decision on him and whether or not to look towards the future or not regarding him.

Rankins played well at the end of the season as well and looked to be ahead of the rookie curve.

After this year, the front office will know what they have invested into dline. If it pans out, great. If not, look for big changes outside of Jordan and rankins either in FA or the 2018 draft

wanna know what else they were better at:
coverage (70 PD and 13 INTs to 67 PD and 9 INTs)

Cornerbacks and Linebackers

And they traded for Kony Ealy, drafted edge players Derek Rivers(3rd rd) & Deatrich Wise(4th Rd) with 2 of their 4 picks.

And Saints signed Okafor, have Kikaha coming back, and drafted 2 DEs

Deatrich Wise(4th Rd)

Isn't he going to be a 3-4 end? I don't think he's considered a pass rusher at the NFL level

They also have a stacked secondary and Hightower.

I have more faith in Kik and Oak than those guys, so we disgree. You might have one of those guys produce more sacks (just because we're talking like 10 guys vs. 2). Most of them won't even start.

Miller: 4.53/6.70/246lbs
beasley: 4.53/6.91/246lbs
ware: 4.56/6.85/251lbs
Barr: 4.66/6.82/255lbs (not a pass rusher)
Barwin: 4.66/6.87/256lbs
Avril: N/A; 6.90/252lbs
Rivers: 4.61/6.94/248lbs

not sure how you got some of those when some are missing (Avril) or over the time for the 40 (Barr/Barwin).

Hendrickson: 4.65/7.03/266lbs

also, here are the #s of DEs with 10+ sacks last year
Golden: 4.90/??/260lbs (7.39 cone at proday)
Hunter: 4.57/??/252lbs (6.95 cone at proday)
Wake: 4.65/7.12/236lbs
Walden: ??/??/238lbs
Kerrigan: 4.71/7.18/267lbs
Jones: 4.87/7.07/266lbs
Perry: 4.64/7.25/271lbs
Mack: 4.65/7.08/251lbs
Orakpo: 4.70/??/263lbs (7.26 cone at proday)
Bosa: 4.86/6.89/269lbs
Ford: 4.59/7.07/252lbs (all pro day)
Clark: 4.79/7.08/271lbs

So here's the guys he is comparable to in weight:
Hendrickson: 4.65/7.03/266lbs
Golden: 4.90/??/260lbs (7.39 cone at proday)
Kerrigan: 4.71/7.18/267lbs
Jones: 4.87/7.07/266lbs
Perry: 4.64/7.25/271lbs
Orakpo: 4.70/??/263lbs (7.26 cone at proday)
Bosa: 4.86/6.89/269lbs
Clark: 4.79/7.08/271lbs

faster than everyone minus perry
better cone than everyone minus bosa

Dude they only had 4 picks, 2 were used to address their rush. We had 6 alone in the first 103 picks. Wise is a 2 way guy, expected to be a better pro then cfb player

Re: Kikaha anything we get from his is lagniappe but as a GM of coach you cannot lean on him for the future. You have to plan like he isn't there

And I think everyone liked the okafor signing with the notion we'd do a lot more then we did to address our pass rush woes in the draft.

Do you think I'm hating on Hendrickson? How the frick did you come up with that? I was doing flips when we finally decided to choose a DE

I think you and many others here think too lowly of Kikaha. But he'll prove it one way or another on the field.

We were FULLY committed to him going into last year. I don't see that changing.

Kony Ealy

if you think that's someone who is such a far away upgrade, you're really mistaken. even carolina homers have given up on him. They thought after a solid rookie season, he was gonna take the next step but for two straight years he didn't do a damn thing while Mario Addison was the one who stepped up.

Even Charles Johnson nabbed 4 sacks last year and played less snaps than Ealy.

Gettleman isn't a dumb GM and pass rushers (and DL) have always been his go to memo since he took over...yet he traded Ealy just to move up a few picks. That speaks loudly of what he thinks of Ealy's potential now.

He tore one acl in college and retore it because they did a shite job repairing it.

The one he had last year was his other leg and a freak injury.

But I mean Thomas Davis was done after 3 alone in the nfl, right?

1. New DL position coach. The Johnson nightmare is over.

2. Our DL is very young and injured previously. Rankins, Onyemata, Kikaha are all a year more experienced, and Kik is now healthy.

3. Okafor is a very good contributor.

4. We just drafted two pass rushers.

Makes sense
Well thought out
Makes me optimistic again

Yea you're right, he'lol over come because Thomas Davis did,

Kikaha was already a fringe NFL athlete coming in. Count on him if you want, apologist.

The fact that he doesn't rely solely on his athleticism isn't a negative here

He first 2 were basically the same injury, and his recovery for this one has supposedly gone extremely well in the repair and recovery. We'll see if we need to bring a vet in pretty early since he's already ready to role in some fashion in OTAs.

I mean I still think TM7 will be a great player with his 2 torn ones in different legs.

I agree with that going into the draft and now. We've added 2 players there, making his possible contribution a plus if it happens. I don't think you can evaluate at the present

I see 3 new guys this season outside of Kikaha. 2 will definitely make the team, and the 6th rounder has the talent.

What? He was on a tear to start his rookie year. I'm with most in that I'm not sure how much we're going to get out of him even if he is starting this year fully healthy, but to act like he doesn't belong is ludicrous.

The latest one was a minor tear and has long sinced healed. He's ready to go.

And fringe athlete? Okay. It'll play out on the field. I'll make the crow pie for one of us.
