Also, isn't it a national historic landmark? That means it's protected from T Wayne getting out there with his blow torch and pulling it down with ropes.

Yes. You're ignoring all of the extraneous factors affecting this project. Cuzan knew very few people would submit bids, and their price reflects that.

Municipalities have spent money on incredibly stupid shite....but this is one of the worst. They are basically going to spend $600,000 to remove monuments that have been there for generations just so the corrupt white mayor can make a statement to his black constituents.
