Received my permit in the mail just now! From online application to in my hands in 9 days! That's got to be some kind of record! If anyone is thinking of applying, be sure to have all your paperwork in order, submit app and scans of all paperwork online then make the drive to State Police Headquarters in Baton Rouge to do your fingerprints. You'll pay your fingerprinting fee there, then you'll receive an email shortly after that to pay the license fee. It's worth it to make the drive, no matter where you are in the state. A 5 hour drive can save you weeks of waiting. For those of you still waiting - I think someone replied saying he applied in August of last year? - GO TO STATE POLICE HQ and speak to someone!
Submitted my app online Jan 3. Went to state police headquarters on Jan 5 to do fingerprints (took about an hour to go thru process). Received "application accepted" email on my way home from doing that and then got the email to pay my fee shortly after that. Got my APPROVED email this afternoon saying permit will be mailed via USPS and I should receive it within 10-15 days.

Well shite! I've been waiting since Aug 10th.
I applied online, but sent my prints through the mail. I wish I would have just waited until I could have gone to BR to do them at the HQ. I did get the approved email and paid on December 12th.

I'm guessing you got the permit to stop getting holds on firearm background checks?

What about renewals? My CCP expires 10/2017

That's a part of of it. But my primary intent is to carry. Didn't buy a Shield 9mm just for the heck of it!
P.S. I received my permit in the mail today. From online app to permit in hand = 9 days!

Glad to see the system is running well.
Most of the folks who experience longer wait times either submitted a paper application or have some sort of "hiccup" in their background check.

From what I understand if you did everything online but sent in paper fingerprints it takes months.

I've given up that I'll ever get mine. Took the class and mailed my stuff in July. Problem is I don't live at the same address, have the same phone number, or have the same email address anymore.
My only hope is they will mail it to my old address and the change of address form I did with USPS will forward it to my current address.

How can you not have the same email address or phone number just because you moved? I have had the same email address for going on 20 years.
If you used a work number and work email address that is just dumb.
You are screwed because the emails for payment will go to your "old" email address and you only have a set number of days (10-15) to make payment.
You will need to start from scratch.

Did you even make a payment?

Waiting since early October.

Yes I did, sent a money order when I mailed everything else.
Address changed because I bought a house.
Phone number changed because I had a 225 area code so my mom could call me for free from her house phone. She didn't own a cell phone. Got it changed to 504 after she passed away.
Email address was hacked by someone in Lafayette with the same name and outlook just gave it to him. Tried getting it back but outlook wasn't having it.

Call LA STate Police and explain to them and ask for a duplicate.
This guy helped push my application thru the process when they "lost" my first set of prints.

Is there any way I can get my permit in 9 days if I do it in NOLA?

Yes. You have to have taken the NRA Basic Handgun course given by a certified NRA instructor. Said course must also include basic carry laws and regulations also. You have to submit a copy of the certificate you receive upon completion of the class.

Negative. Submitting online and having fingerprinting done at the State Police HQ in Baton Rouge seems to be the fastest path to getting the permit.

Mine got approved, and I submitted my payment on December 6th. Still haven't received my card.
