I get what you're saying. My wife holds the utensils properly until it's time to cut a steak. Then it's like she's killing it again and needs to keep it still

How stupid! That's the kind of stuff that makes women feel like they can't do anything right.

Picc, if you were dating a dude that stabbed at his meat (hehe) like a caveman you wouldn't say anything?

Btw, I doubt this dude's story that it took him a year to address this issue.

To relatively few people. Those days of ridiculous social behaviors are archaic.

It's a sign of trashiness. I probably would have dumped her without saying anything about it.

is this what you said? Because that's pretty rude imo regardless of of her bad manners

Something along the lines of is there a reason you hold your fork the way you do? so you wouldn't come across as infantilizing but maybe more inquiring to start a discussion

Do you hold your fork like the OP's SO?

Tell the truth. This is the OT, no one here will judge you.

This is somewhat stunning. I really can't recall ever seeing a woman hold a fork in that manner. How old is she? Does her family hold forks the same way?

You'd think she would have noticed by now that she doesn't hold her fork the way other people do.

In a year, you haven't mentioned it? I think I would have asked if there was a reason why she holds her fork that way since it's not the way most people do it. I would have asked in a manner that was curious rather than accusatory such that she's embarrassing, though it is embarrassing.

I don't get bothered by a lot of things, but that would bother me.

You mentioned there are other things about her that bother you, but that you have internalized yet you plan to marry her. You may be well served by reviewing those things before you take the big step.
