You spoke to her like a child and then when she got upset you doubled down and called her a child.

Haha. This story reminds me of the time I told a 30 year old woman "aren't you a little old to be going out every night."

for those piling on, how would you feel if you went out to eat and your SO held their fork like this

I tried to simply show her to do it like this

and it was like I called her mom a slut

Was married 27 years myself. Like another poster, also in my 60's. A fork is not that important to get in a fight over. Learn to pick your battles and learn that females are wired differently than males in terms of perceptions and emotions. Learn how they process information and you will have a lot easier time communicating.

Oh............and learn to choose your battles a little more wisely.

Believe it or not, if you ever have the privilege of sitting at a formal dinner one day, and it is with her, she will quickly figure things out and do as the Romans.

How bad do you want to keep this girl?

I don't think I've ever seen a grown woman do it. I've seen men do it.

I would have said something after the first dinner. No way in hell I'm going to subject myself to watching that every time we eat for a week, let alone a year.

Table manners are important.

Especially at business lunches or formal dinners.

You did the right thing to try to help her.

Wait til you go to sleep tonight. That's when she shows you she knows how to hold a knife properly.

To the OP...Do you want to be right or do you want to be happy? It really is that simple.

She will come back around. Some people can't handle any sort of criticism.

I suppose that's very good advice.

This is applicable to the Neanderthal child fork holder. I think this is just what the OP is saying.

Does she smack her food? If she does that and the fork thing, I would say something. Just the fork thing is forgivable IMO.

In this land of fat arse, obese, and tubalard Americans, 120 is hardly considered "normal" for an adult.

I'd call out my girl if she ate like that, but I wouldn't do it how you did it. I would have just jokingly asked her why she eats like a caveman

If this is the type of battles you pick, I can't see how she's stayed with you so long.
