And possibly as early as 2017.

Does this change the mind of the O supporters if he doesn't have aranda around? In that scenario we are looking at a coordinator duo of ensminger and coach o's mystery hire.

It should.

This is why I can't understand people that want Orgeron to be hired after 3 games, or even if he were to beat Alabama. We need to be thinking long term.

This may be the most talented team in the country, and is certainly one of the most loaded LSU teams in years. Sure, Orgeron is getting them pumped up and ready to go every game - that's his job, and that's his specialty.

The problem, as many have mentioned, is long term stability and success. We saw what happened to Ole Miss when Orgeron was tasked with managing and building a program year after year.

Etling will be gone after 2017. Aranda may very well be gone after 2017.

Does anyone really want to take a chance on Orgeron when he doesn't have Aranda as his DC? Or when he doesn't have a QB that was developed elsewhere?

This is not the worst idea in the world. I'd certainly consider it.

Mostly joking, but why is this idea "horrible"?

While I wouldn't rule him out, there is a zero sample size of him running any program. Doesn't mean he couldn't be successful, Jimbo and Richt went from coordinating to running a major program. This would be higher on the list of risk than most other names being kicked around

Aranda will be a damn good headcoach whenever he decides to pursue that. IMO

We've got a 10-25 sample size from Coach O yet people still want to hire him

he's a damn good defensive coordinator - what makes you think he would be a damn good head coach?

It's not ideal to hire an unknown like him as a HC with no prior experience, but any coach is a risk and if he turns out to be great you're in on the ground floor. Sure things can name their price and destination.

My opinion from watching him is he has the personality of a dishrag. he is a phenomenal DC and a genius but i don't think he is close to ready to running a program like LSU, not yet anyway. I would doubt he makes the move to be a head coach now anyways.

For all the complaints yesterday about PJ Fleck being 'too arrogant' and 'too cocky' (which i don't necessarily agree with) - Aranda is the polar opposite. Very dry, monotone and subdued when talking to the press - admittedly i have no idea how good of a recruiter he is but i can't see him being the face of LSU right now.

We can all agree that O is better than Les. We did ok for 10 years of Les so anyone better than him would make sense.

But he's said he learned from his mistakes. That means his previous record doesn't count apparently.

Aranda is further down on the list for HC but still before Coach O.

I remember watching interviews of Saban back in '03 and thinking "what a bore this guy is". Obviously not a big factor.

From the rest of your post, sounds like you want the "sexy hire".

We know way less about Amanda's abilities as a head coach than O.
