Worlds better than Orgeron's record as head coach, even if you give him the W's from USC and he wins out at LSU this season.

Make Aranda HC. Problem solved.

I think he is a great DC that has brought life back to this team... however, i dont think we want a first time head coach to learn on the job. We have to have someone with experience!

So make Aranda HC and Coach O the highest paid DC in the country plus head of recruiting?

When it comes to Coach O his bad record doesn't matter because he's learned. Special pleading at its finest.

Well he wasn't coaching LSU at the same time Miles was now was he? Miles was 28-21 before taking the LSU job. Saban 34-24-1 at MSU. Sometimes you need perspective and have to look at the situation. Tennessee was 5-7 before he was hired. USC was hammered by the NCAA. He still just as many games in 1 year as O did in 3 at OM and Nutt won 9 at OM the year after O was fired so..

Lame coached USC when they were preseason #1 and just barely escaped with a losing record that year. Shitty? - YES

first of all, grow the frick up, calling him "Lame" Kiffin is a) childish and b) just proves your hatred of him is clouding your judgement.

First of all USC was preseason #1 because Kiffin was 10-2 and finished #5/6 the year before. A lot of people felt they were over rated because they did not have depth. It was a bad year, no doubt, but to keep harping on the preseason ranking and holding that against him is stupid, because preseason rankings are meaningless and beyond anyone's control and again proves you are not just looking a guys record and evaluating him, but cherry picking with some meaningless anecdote because you hate him. If you DQ any coach that had a "shitty" season, then there is no one good enough.

BTW Saban's first 3 years at LSU he was 26-12, Kiffin's first 3 years (1 at UT, 2 at USC) he was 25-13. completely meaningless just like going 7-6 as preseason #1.

Coach O the highest paid DC

Why do people keep suggesting O to DC? Has he ever been a DC? Is he known for x's and o's? As far as I know, he's known as a recruiter and a good DL coach. He doesn't strike me as an x/o strategist.

Does this change the mind of the O supporters if he doesn't have aranda around? In that scenario we are looking at a coordinator duo of ensminger and coach o's mystery hire.

It changes my mind. The only way LSU should hire O as HC is if they tie up Aranda long-term. Possibly give O a 3-year deal, Aranda a raise and make him heir apparent with a big buy-out. If Aranda leaves, I think it is unlikely O succeeds.

You pulled that quote from the 'would you hire O or Aranda' thread which clearly from this thread I don't think Aranda is ready and yeah I would take O over Aranda in a heartbeat right now. BTW here is my full quote

quote:

people learn from their mistakes and get better - every indication so far is that he has done just that. I would be willing to give him a shot based on what i have seen in his interim stint at USC and what he has done so far at LSU. I think recent results should count in his favor and not be ignored. Y'all are acting like he's my number one choice in the search. i'm not even advocating him for head coach right now - just over Aranda. which isn't even an option just a weird hypothetical put forth by the OP. Aranda doesn't seem like a head coach to me right now and that's okay because he's an awesome DC.
