I cook to drink

I start drinking when I even think about cooking.

I do this when the oranges on the trees in the yard ripen. It seems the last few years that they ripen later and later each year but it's hard to beat fresh squeezed OJ. Especially the blood oranges.

When I'm cooking I like to have an ice cold beer, wine or even a cocktail sometimes. Does anyone else imbibe while cooking? What do you enjoy when doing so?
Beer usually, unless i'm making italian, then i like wine. Nothing more relaxing to me, than getting a big dinner started around 3 pm on a Sunday, while football is on in the living room, and cooking a big meal and drinking a good craft beer or homebrew.

If the smoker is lit, then I'm lit. I LOVE the looks from my wife when she wakes up on Saturday morning and I'm already on my 2nd or 3rd beer. I always drink beer when I'm grilling or smoking. Inside, I still drink, but it depends on what I'm cooking... usually either a beer or a glass of wine.

That's a trick question, right?

And now I have plans for Saturday morning. Is 6 AM too early to crack an Envie or should I start with something different?

You should start with a wakey whiskey... then switch to Envie.

If I have a grill, smoker or fish fryer going I got a cold beer in my hand.

I don't get shitty, but I'll have a few beers while I'm cooking. We're doing German food for the LSU-Florida game and I'll start pretty early while I'm making Sauerbrauten.

Yea I'm more of a whiskey guy. Sometimes if I'm enjoying the drinking too much I can make grilling hamburgers last an hour Once done I put them on top rack with foil just to continue sitting outside drinking. That way kids and wife aren't wondering why I'm outside drinking while they inside eating. If I'm in a drinking mood though usually I enjoy slow cooking stuff like gumbo, jumbalaya, a roast on the grill, etc.

Sometimes if I am cooking and feel like having a beer, I'll grab one but I don't "have" to drink while doing anything. Drinking for me is typically something to do here and there

Yes unless the wife is cooking with me. She counts every drink.

There are few things more pleasurable in life than cooking a big meal and drinking. That's why Christmas and thanksgiving are so wonderful

Must have a good beverage of choice and some good tunes going

At my previous house I had a couple orange trees - navel and La. sweet. They produced in huge amounts. That fresh squeezed OJ was so awesome. For some reason Dole OJ tastes so much better than everything else off the shelf - closest thing I've found to fresh squeezed.
